The weather has been pretty grim over in England lately, with more rain than usual and cloudy skies. My contacts over there tell me that the temperature has been around 15c...which is very cool for West Indian standards...and the overhead grey skies will not be welcomed by the tourists either.
Forecast for Lords in the lead up to the test match starting on Wednesday is as follows:
Sunday 7.7 - sunshine & showers, breezy and 18c
Monday 8.7 - cloudy with showers, some heavy, 18c
Tuesday 9.7 - rain, breezy, 20c
Wednesday 10.7 (DAY 1 OF 5) - partly cloudy, possible light showers, breezy, 22c
Thursday 11.7 (DAY 2 OF 5) - sunny spells, dry with less wind, 23c
Friday 12.7 (DAY 3 OF 5) - cloudy, showers, 19c
Saturday 13.7 (DAY 4 OF 5) - cloudy, showers, 21c
Sunday 14.7 (DAY 5 OF 5) - mostly sunny, dry, 22c
Looks like a real mixed bag but as always, the weather can (and usually does) change very quickly.
Lords has been kind to the batsmen this season, Middlesex have drawn five of their nine red ball games at the ground thus far. The most recent first class match at the ground brought a win for the home side with scores of 433, 339, 302 and 202. Even lower-order batsmen made fifties. When the bowlers struck, they were mostly seamers. The match ended just a week ago and gives us some idea as to how we can expect the pitch to behave for that all important first test match.

based on 4RQ's report, the captain winning the toss will send in the other team so that he gets to bat on day 2 which seems to be the best batting day.
