61/3
Atkinson 2: Stokes 1
In reply to Chrissy
What are your assessments thus far?
Nicely played - four and four Athanaze
73/3 now
In reply to InHindsight
Difficult batting conditions in the 1sr session but I think Louis belongs. Kirk is no longer playing his natural game and has not adjusted well.
Paint is Paint- one day I’ll tell allyuh why that is so and how I knew it from early.
I hope Hodge and Athanaze can bat for the rest of the day. Pitch looks easier for batting with the ball getting older.
82/3 from 32
Lovely - four
88/3
Sensible batting now
In reply to Chrissy
very much so
the break did them well.
In reply to Chrissy
I think it's fair. Athanaze and Hodge could give come confidence for batters to come. Mc Kenzie I thought could have been a little more watchful early on
Oh skites
Atkinson strikes
Allick gawn fi 23
Holder gawn fi a golden duck
Atkinson has four now
88/5
Athanaze gone...but I see some promise ...
That was a good ball...
should he have left it?
thought it was too good a ball and the bowler won.
Tell me some on Jason's dismissal, shouldn't you present the full face as much as possible when ball moving around laterally?
In reply to powen001
Powen yuh goatmout!!
In reply to Chrissy
Damn..Holder gone first ball....
sheeeeeeeeet
In reply to culpepperboy
After the fact Goat mouth??

In reply to powen001
You watching dis ting on a 10 min delay or what?
In reply to InHindsight
Well I sure got that wrong
Fiver fi Atkinson on debut.
Da Silva fi a quack quack too.
88/6
Windies try to rain on Anderson's parade but Atkinson had other ideas
In reply to powen001
Who was it that said: "the break did them well"?
In reply to culpepperboy
only getting it on Flow..
I will go search on MCTV ...FLOW is almost 2 minutes behind...
Atkinson 5 fer...
the Experienced men aint stannin up to the bowling at all ..sigh.
88/6
In reply to InHindsight
Can you rain on Ander's sun or Atkin's sun?
Is WI too tentative?
I said it holder is now a tailender and should not be batting this high in the order.
In reply to velo
What about DaSilva? Where should he be batting?
I did.
But the facts remain.
they had a very good resumption...attititude and application...
but alas...
That debutant fast bowler certainly has a catchy cricket name, Gus Atkinson.
Hope he is not just another one-hit wonder.
What a collapse.
In reply to powen001
...as I said, goatmout.
In reply to culpepperboy
7 down now...doth it make sense to switch to see it faster?
Some good fielding too
In reply to powen001
Don't worry. We got this!
England will be 6 down by the close of play.
In reply to Chrissy
What a collapse cricket
In reply to culpepperboy
Glorious test cricket!
Incomparable.
100 up - straight drive, three fours from AlJo
100/7
In reply to powen001
Why you think they sent we in?
They frighten for we bowlers!
We just got to get 150+ and it is game on!
Four more

AlJo doing what he does best. Bat.
AlJo gawn

Nine down.
Ah wah du
In reply to culpepperboy
Sarcasm right lol
No worries. We just have to recalibrate. We need 8 wickets by close of play instead of 6.
88/3 to 106/9
Leh we see our bowling now
In reply to Chrissy
well i assume we will be sending for Hope, Bravo and Hetmyer lol
at least ,,,100 up
Jason Holder strikes again!

Good vibes at Lords

Small world
WI 20/20 team was making more runs than the Test team (in half the overs)
In reply to powen001
Not showin on Flow in Grenada
Wickets my side
Debutants showed they belong. Changing of the template to a new generation of test cricketers for WI. Some inspirational leadership will help this relatively young team in the future.
Alzari sending down heat 92mls./hr.
Seales 140k too not bad!
The t20 squad woulda make more than this bunch
11/0 from 4
Not Gawn - dropped srewwwps. - no ball too blow wow
2 chances now....first the runout and now that catch. Stewwwwps
Dropped - need to take those at this time in the match
googley
Lack of proper match cricket clearly evident here.
Totally different pitch when we bowl.
In reply to WIForever
England would have been 2 down if those chances were taken.
Sealessssssssssssssssss!!!
Wicket
In reply to Prako
Phew
Three more now
Tea
30/1
In reply to SnoopDog
I mean literally. Seam movement and swing so much less.
Where's the crowd?
And then we complain that people in the WI don't come out and watch cricket (anymore).
There you go AlJo, show them what you're made of!
52/1
Wickets allyuh
In reply to Drapsey
Like you watching the W.I legends game?
Another two-day test in the making.
Star must be grinning from ear to ear.
Leh we go Shamar - wickets
In reply to Ridge
My apologies. They showed an empty section during the lunch break, and I thought that was a true representation of the entire Lords.
Just got a different view, and the place looked packed.
There you go Shamar, show them what you made of.
In reply to Bamboocane
Shamar looks to be down in pace.
Most of these guys look seriously short of proper match practice.
In reply to SnoopDog
let the man loosen up a bit nuh...has not played in a while
In reply to ray
Isn't that what I wrote?
In reply to SnoopDog
I believe i heard announcer say the pitch was a bit slow and better for swing bowlers when WI was batting.
Holder is bowling well
In reply to Bamboocane
AlJo was in the 90 mph range for most of his spell.
Shamar is mostly in the 87-88 mph in this spell. Contrast that with his spells in Oz where he was in 90-95 mph range.
In reply to SnoopDog
You figet Holder hitting an astonishing 78 mph?
Bad light Phew
In reply to Chrissy
On vacation...just checking in
Same old same old
Licks like peas
In reply to Kay
That's his natural pace these days.
In reply to SnoopDog
In reply to birdseye
To be fair he didn't have any red ball bowling in months until THIS match.
His flight to England was delayed because of the hurricane so he didn't get to bowl in the solitary warm-up game before the first Test.
He and most of the team are showing just how rusty they are from lack of red ball match practice.
Pope lbw Holder for 57
England 123-2
In reply to Chrissy
De Pope gawn
In reply to mikesiva
I am not watching
What happened to Motie
Why is he not bowling?
England in the lead already, the WI needed another warm-up match, their bowling is inconsistent in length
In reply to dayne
Only rain can save WI in this Test.
A two for one is almost a certainty.
In reply to Narper
too early yet for spin
In reply to ray
Partnership over a 100...why not try spin
Same tuckery Hokder used to do to Bishoo
In reply to Narper
Your guess is as good as mine....
Maybe Kraigg feels the Lords wicket isn't ready for spin on the first day.
Seales gets his second wicket. Crawley yorked for 76.
come on
1 or 2 more today
Shamar down.
... and back up. Good.
In reply to Drapsey
Shamar goes off the field...bad.
New ball yet?
England ahead by 68
need an inspired spell in the morning , Alzharri?
Early 2 wickets will be perfect
Bad batting day for the WI, the most experience batters let the team down, Kraigg, Holder and DaSilva only made 6 runs between them
In reply to Narper
Figured something was up.
Enjoy
In reply to Chrissy
Went to do my volunteer thing at 6.30 a.m after watching a few overs and Louis debut but
missed everything ...we having a serious heat wave and other volunteers took off leaving
a few to soldier on.
But I am not surprised at all about the day's play.. the players are under cooked and mostly
playing without proper match preparation for what is a totally different cricket
environment.
To be honest ,they did better than I thought they would by scoring121.
Improvement will come after they experience some more rough treatment .
Won't be able to watch much tomorrow either so all I can say is good luck to all
and don't suffer too much . WI aint serious about this game. Players deserve much better
Blame the selectors. To send these youngsters that not even making runs in regional cricket to England where one cloud can make the difference in your time at the crease is criminal. They could at least put a different thought process into how they go about selecting this team.
Aljo was very dissapointing
In reply to carl0002
It's worrying that batsmen 3-6 all average under 30 in Test cricket.
This morning, north London has blue sky and sunshine. A good day for batting.
Unfortunately!
Brook gets his half century...and out!
England 244-4
Brook c da Silva b Alzarri 50
If the Pommies want a repeat of the (last) Lords 2-day test against the WI, they should declare now with that 123 lead.
Phew - a Wicket
Come allyuh
Clataaax
Great ball Motie
Five down
254/5
Motie once again proving his worth.
Wickets ain't falling like flies but playing a holding role and keeping the batsmen honest
In hindsight who would have been the better pick in this 11, him or Sinclair.
PS
I do have Sinclair as a cricketer
Every over our bowlers except Motie, bowl one or more boundary balls. The patience and discipline is just not there
In reply to InHindsight
And again.
And VC AlJo has gotten his ton.
Big up!
In reply to Drapsey
A magnificent ton by Aljo
In reply to Drapsey
Can these runs be used for my FL points?
This Gus Atkinson guy is having some kind of a debut.
7-fer followed by a quack. Wow!
Want a debut half-ton, call wi!
Good going young Smith!
This Bashir guy going after Runako Morton's record or what?
Now 17 dot balls and counting.
Let's goo team
Good way to finish the innings
a Run out and a good catch.
Now Let's come out and bat a lot better and put a positive run out there
just imagine, yea imagine...if we scored 250ish
we need to bat better
the bowlers trying
In keeping with rumshop logic, time to drop Seales. He didn't take 5, 6, or 7 wkts
Watch Braithwaite play for a draw, where is Tage when we need him?
Windies have to score at least 600 runs to have chance!
Alyuh hear that stat.
Kraig averages 16 from the last 14 tests.
Louis trying to be more more positive. Whether or not he scores its encouraging to see he's making adjustments. That's good enough for me. He looks like one fore the future
Time for us to move on from Braffi, lol
De man can't score now
Man don't push forward. If he pushed forward it would have wrapped him outside the line. Crap technique.
In reply to carl0002
Who making runs in regional cricket that should've been there?
I don't knwo but it's liek these guys are told to be passive cause look how they batting so negative.
Elementary mistake by Mc Kenzie. Keep it simple
If there is lateral movement, present the full face of the bat. Don't play through the line
Now Louis gone blocking again. I don't mind being out to an attacking shot cause you're trying to score runs. You have to be positive or not go out there.
4 Down.
WI playing like they want to lose this match inside 2 days
And Hodge gone
yeah this stest is finishing today, we won't make 100.
At least we give Jimmy Anderson a good way to bow out. Man aint' even had to play for 5 days.
I believe in everything you do you got to go out there and be positive. The way how they are playing this negative type cricket like you are trying to block your way to a draw is crazy and will not make the game interesting
You have the bowlers who toiled and then the batsmen coming in being negative.
In reply to positiveg
Well Hodge tried that and played on
In reply to Prako
yeah really negative cricket by the batsman, seems like that's the gameplan but out by the coaches. Because everyone from Captain, Louis was ok then Alick started blocking then like he forgot hit 3 nice 4's then remembers the gameplan gone back to blocking and prodding.
In reply to Prako
Is not Hodge fault...the other batsmen just so damn negative, that Hodge was forced to give it a go
In reply to ray
No disgrace to Hodge for that dismissal.
Poor execution though
For the sake of WI cricket I just want to see Anthanze get some runs under his belt asap
Deficit under 200 now.
1 hour to go to stumps
In reply to VIX
You would know that better than I, chances are this is the best of the lot but that's not really the point. I also said selectors could have put a different thought process into how they go about putting this team together, rather than put these youngsters in a situation to rely on a hope and prayer and potentially ruined. Just watch and see how some people will refer to these batsmen when this is over.
In reply to InHindsight
Another inning of 20-something
5 down
what an easy out Athanaze, no need whatsoever to play. was he watching holder though a righthander and different angles?
In reply to carl0002
It seems these youngsters lose concentration once they get into the 20s.
Athanaze out to Anderson for 22, chasing a wide one that he should've left alone.
WI 55-5
Atha Ganga
Is Alzharri watching how to be consistent and build pressure?
Mini Nelson
55/5
In reply to mikesiva
its that they have to work much, much harder to get to 20 than what they're used to.
1000 Test Runs for DaSilva
Holder out with 2 balls remaining in the day's play which ensures this is the last ball of the day
79/6
DaSilva 8*
WI trail by 171
Easy out for Holder too. You have padding all over just let that ne hit yuh since you think you shouldn't duck or lean since it reared from not very short a length.
Now back to watching tennis.
With this match poised to finish within the 1st Session tomorrow, they might still get a sell out crowd as it will be Anderson's last hour of cricket.
Views from Test Match Special today
Sir Alastair Cook
Someone needs to take hold of Test cricket in the West Indies as a leader and take control. Give us three years, give us X amount of players to work with.
It might be impossible, the infrastructure might not be there, but they need some identity as a team. They beat Australia at the Gabba, nobody ever does that. There is clearly something there. But they just need someone, I think, some inspiration.
I wasn't the most attacking batter but I knew that if the ball was in my area, I could find the boundary. They are lacking the confidence to do that.
They haven't got much experience in Test cricket so it's that ability to play a long innings, the discipline that it takes.
Carlos Brathwaite
They are averaging 30 in first-class cricket, you need players averaging 45. I think players need to hold themselves to higher accountability.
But I think Mikyle Louis has showed potential on debut, he is in his first year of playing first-class cricket and is all of a sudden at Lord's playing against James Anderson. It is not comparable to Jamie Smith who has played for years at Surrey and had that exposure.
Let's not kid ourselves with talk of belief in this Test. There are two Tests to look at now and salvage some pride from. They have been outclassed here and that's the way to look at it, it's an opportunity to show some fight.
It’s been disappointing, I’m sure a lot of West Indies fans would have been up early watching or listening. There needs to be a little more resilience, put a price on those wickets.
Michael Vaughan
West Indies are all over the place. It is so sad to see a batting line-up that's got nothing. They are up against a very good bowling attack including the greatest of all time but it upsets me. The pitch has done a little bit but it's not a pitch you should lose 16 wickets on in the space of two days.
I do fear for the West Indies. There is little substance in their batting, very little experience once Kraigg Brathwaite is out. There doesn't seem to be much of a plan from West Indies' batters, they are just sitting.
I don’t think most West Indies fans will de devastated by this performance, they were hoping for something from the youngsters ala Shamar Joseph in Australia but it was always gonna be tough.
Between the lack of vision from the administration and not enough application from the players when the opportunity is presented, we fans have ceased to be disappointed but continue to be hopeful
In reply to jacksparrow
True!
Overcast this morning, and chilly in north London. It's 15 Celsius now, so not great conditions for batting.
Just a matter of time....
Anderson gets rid of da Silva...WI 88-7
Alzarri out now...Atkinson gets his 10th in the match. WI 96-8
In reply to mikesiva
Alzarri out? Did you mean he gifted his wicket.
Not a great look especially for a VC
In reply to Mustwin
Shamar bowled by Atkinson for three...WI 103-9.
Nine down
Pathetic
Shamar out
In reply to jacksparrow
Sad but true. I celebrate the rare victories but understand reality.
The entire region has been structurally adjusted.
Dropped - return catch by Anderson off Motie
In reply to Acid
Anderson dropped de series?
Motie onto the top score
In reply to Acid
Atkinson finishes with another five-fer.
Innings defeat.
In reply to culpepperboy
Torched passes to Atkinson for his second 5 wicket haul on Debut
In reply to mikesiva
And that ends WI’s poor test
What a ting - Motie has di highest score in both innings.
In reply to Chrissy
only player to cross 30
it was a bad batting show
we must do better
I personally have enjoyed watching James Anderson swing that cricket ball and work batters out.
Cricket fans have been blessed.
Well, normality has been restored to CW. It's a big pity.
