Not in england
In reply to Curtis
outside england yes...extremely. also, kraigg can't bat
From first I saw him I pronounced him over rated,I doh care if he get 1000 wkts, fcuk im and England.
The current WI wicket takers in this playing XI are 360
Brathwaite 29
Athanaze 1
Holder 159
Alzarri 93
Motie 24
Shamar 13
Seales 41
Jimmy with his 700+ is almost 2 times better than the entire team.

244 wickets away from home at 30 is overrated?
In reply to Prako
anderson can't tie walsh's shoes, and definitely not mcgrath, maco, bird, ambrose, whispering death, white lightning, steyn, wasim akram, richard hadlee etc

It is either these guys jealous or in denial.

I agree - No reason for Jimmy to stoop so low
Give the bloke his dues. Numbers don't lie.

we have some subterranean cave dwellers here boy. Any fast bowler with an average over 30 IS NOT and WILL NEVER BE A GREAT PACEMAN. ntini has 390 wickets but his bowling avg is 28 which is why he's considered a very good paceman, not great. anderson is in he same bracket
In reply to Jumpstart
the man average 26.5 overall and 30 overseas not 30 overall
in the history of cricket, only 57 bowlers have taken 244 or more wickets in their entire career, home and away...
allyuh rale badmind yes
In reply to doosra
yes....and they're about so many pacemen whose wickets was not as expensive. wasim waqar, 6 west indian pacemen from 1974-2000, white lightning, pollock, richard hadlee, denis lillee, the father of all modern pacemen, glen mcgrath, dale steyn, vernon philander, bob willis etc

You are not normalizing the numbers. As we moved through decades, the general run rates have increased as well.
A 30 runs per wicket in this decade might be equivalent to 20 in the 80s where 220 runs in a day's play was considered "being on top."

im absolutely positive mcgrath, cummins, vernon philander and dale steyn didn't average 30 runs per wicket......anywhere. and those guys were successful everywhere they went
anderson is like a rhythm guitarist. functional but outside of england, don't expect him to do anything spectacular or prize out a batting lineup in foreign conditions. Stuart broad however could do that, as he showed many times

Of those you named, how many has more wickets than Anderson?
A fast bowler playing for 21 years in 188 matches, with over 700 wickets is not great?
Jimmy Anderson's record speaks for itself. Give Jimmy he jacket.

doesn't matter. had anderson been playing in SA or Australia, his career would have coincided with the careers of steyn, philander, morkel and pollock, ntini and nel were already established internationals. would have been a fight with nel and anderson, but again i say his career wouldn't have lasted long because the former three were in the wings. In australia, mcgrath, lee and warner were there until 2007 and 2009 respectively. they had about 3 bad years after that until mitchell johnson and Ryan Harris propelled them to #1 status between 2013 and the beginning of 2014. those dudes were replaced by starc, cummins and hazlewood. Englad has not produced any fast bowling talent of prodigious proportions since harmison, simone jones and andrew flintoff. and anderson's career benefited greatly from flintoff and jones' injury struggles and harmy's jaded condition. anderson's career is long because england not producing any quality quicks
