Description

A heat event expected to begin on Sunday and may continue into Tuesday.

A hot and humid airmass will reach southern Ontario Sunday.
Daytime maximum temperatures are expected to be near 30 degrees celsius with humidex values near 40.
There will be little relief at night as minimum temperatures are expected to be near 20 degrees celsius.

Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high risk category.

A cooler airmass is expected to arrive Tuesday night.

Heat warnings remain widespread across much of Ontario, fueling the threat for additional thunderstorms as we kick off this new work week on Monday.
Some of the storms could reach severe limits, with the risk for heavy rain, strong winds, and large hail on the table.

There's also the threat for some rotating storms for areas northwest of Toronto and southern Georgian Bay.

Two weak tornadoes have been confirmed in London, Ont. on July 10, as the last of the remnants of Hurricane Beryl passed through the region.

"It’s a bit of a surprise – provided by the remnants of Beryl – but there were indeed two weak tornadoes in London on July 10," said Dr. David Sills, Executive Director of the Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP).
Both of the tornadoes have been rated as EF0, with an estimated maximum wind speed of 90 km/h.
