Big up Dominica.

I've always found Dominicans to be great fans of WI cricket.

Great session for WI. They needed that.

A very good partnership between Alick and Hodge. Really nice batting so far from these two.

In reply to Logic

Kavem Hodge has been impressive!!! Always knew Alick had it in him but Hodge has been a revelation honestly thought he was just a club cricketer but has certainly stepped up at the highest level!!!

doosra 2024-07-19 15:13:59

In reply to WIfan26

Hodge may not be the most skillful but he has a brain for the game...i guess it comes with experience too

Yeah, Dominicans are some of the coolest people, met a few while studying in Barbados!

Brerzerk 2024-07-19 15:20:42

Kavem Hodge is a cricketer

Good batsman
Excellent in the field
Handy with the ball
Vibrant, positive personality

Clearly enjoys the game. And this has been evident from the Australian series.

Well done selectors.

Curtis 2024-07-19 15:58:38

Good cricketer.

Always looking to rotate the strike and keeping busy at the wicket.

You know!

Curtis 2024-07-19 16:12:30

In reply to SnoopDog

Wishing him continued success. Big knock.

bobby 2024-07-19 16:17:04

Hodge is now 31 years old. He played for West Indies Under 15, Under 19 and West Indies B. He is obviously very talented. What went wrong? Aren't our experts able to spot and develop talent? Not given chances because he is from a small island? Dominica and Windward Islands cricket politics? Or all of the above.
I hope he puts his head down and now continue to grow from strength to strength. I wish him well.

Cappo material?

Brerzerk 2024-07-19 16:21:22

Frank Worrell must be smiling, Windward Islands men playing short-pitched bowling judiciously.
Know when to duck, know when to sway know when to Hook and Pull but doan hold out in the deep today!

Perhaps. But for right now…….let him develop and stabilize his international career before saddling him with that blight cool

Also…..not every bubbly personality can handle it when they’re thrust into a leadership position of their peers. That can be quite awkward.

Logic 2024-07-19 16:33:59

Feeling emotional. Congrats Mr. Hodge. Big day for WI and Dominica.

I thought Irvine Shillingford had a test century. Guess i was wrong

voiceofreason 2024-07-19 16:45:11

So proud of my boy Hodge and the Dominican connection! REVO!

Brerzerk 2024-07-19 17:01:22

In reply to Logic

He does, always disappointed when men who should know or research make those errors

PalsofMine 2024-07-19 18:30:30

Big day for Dominicans. Be proud, oui. and hopefully the turning point for Allick as well in his mental game.

SnoopDog 2024-07-19 19:47:53

In reply to PalsofMine

Lara rates Alick very highly.

I was gutted to see him throw away a sure century with such a lazy stroke to a nothing ball from Stokes.

embsallie 2024-07-19 19:50:50

In reply to Logic

Not wrong.
Irvine Shillingford had a test century against Pakistan in the West Indies. 120 I think.
I was very young then (turning 50 this September), but being a cricket aficionado, I read up on a lot of old cricket stories and scorecards.
I still find and watch matches with Sobers, Kanhai et al on YouTube.

embsallie 2024-07-19 19:52:48

Very proud to be a Dominican today with these guys.
I have been longing for something like that from the WI Middle Order for a long long time.
The fact that these guys are my peeps, makes it all the more special.

This dude is a special talent.
So easy on the eyes. I watched him play some shots this morning off Woakes before I went to work......Dat boy can bat.

Logic 2024-07-19 20:27:39

In reply to embsallie

Not wrong.

Thought so. English commies not well informed. Said Hodge's was the first by a Dom

I am also pretty sure he had a test century. He was one of my favourites growing up.

In reply to imusic

According to cricinfo Irving is the one with the 100 and not Grayson as they mentioned on commentary today

Curtis 2024-07-19 20:46:33

Definitely Irving, against Pak, at Bourda. Played next test and then dropped.

Curtis 2024-07-19 20:47:12

In reply to doosra

I had to leave, did Bish mention Grayson?

doosra 2024-07-19 20:47:57

In reply to Curtis

Bish did which might have been in error

He did say 120 at Bourda so that was correct

imusic 2024-07-19 21:07:51

In reply to doosra

Yeah…..Grayson was a fast bowler. No way he was scoring any century

If I’m not mistaken, Grayson also went on to play for WI

I was also a fan of Norbert Phillip, probably the best all rounder in the region at the time. He toured India under Kalli while the regular first team was playing Packer cricket.

Irving Shillingford (Grayson’s brother) regularly used to top the then Shell Shield batting averages but couldn’t get selected to the WI team…….until he did and scored a century. But he didn’t play many matches for WI…..much to chagrin of many, including myself.

doosra 2024-07-19 21:15:57

Yea Grayson played 7 tests

Brerzerk 2024-07-19 21:16:09

In reply to embsallie

I was actually trying to do justice to both Kavem and Kenny

Brerzerk 2024-07-19 21:17:03

In reply to doosra

I listened to that Irving Shillingford ton I think it was at Bourda

doosra 2024-07-19 21:18:06

In reply to Brerzerk

It was and way before my time ;)

embsallie 2024-07-19 21:20:31
