Does Hodge remind you of Sarwan?

The stroke play, the pull shot… the late cut..
Sarwan got out a lot hooking but he always played the pull very well. Hodge plays the pull with a very similar execution.

I actually thought of that before I saw your post. He does have a little bit of Sarwan in him!

The hook was his downfall because he was compulsive about it. Hodge seems to have a soundness to his approach.

Even looking back at the highlights right now I’m seeing Sarwan. He just need the red Bandana

Perhaps he would have averaged 50 + if he was not as compulsive with that shot.
Sars was special talent.smile

Get a hold of yourselves Genklemen. I am the happiest man today watching that very West Indian ton, classic.
But beg unnuh please leff out the comparisons. Louis has matured and got his chance at age 30. Let's hope he
makes full use of it and entertain us for the next 10yrs.
Sars on the other hand oozed class from age 16 and his movements back and forward was as nimble as many of
the truly blessed Guyneez.

Comparisons will never stop in sports Sir. Nobody said he’s as good as Sarwan. Neither did anyone say he’s not as good. I said he reminds me of Sarwan in the execution of some of his shots. Was I lying?

He was a happy hooker, couldn’t resist it. He played the pull well but once it gets up to his shoulder long leg and deep square leg were in business. I always wondered why the coach didn’t have him practice with a golf ball on a concrete surface and sway out of the way of everything on shoulder height.. without even attempting to play them with the bat…

OK...YES..

I am here watching the innings..

Lots of Sarwanesque shots...

but with an Unperturbed demeanor...

Sarwan would have given a bowler a nasty look by now big grin

I thought the exact same thing watching it on bbc tonight, his cutting and pulling of the spinners is very good to watch and incredibly similar to Ronnie Sarwan. Both very nimble and like Sarwan, he seems to pick the length of the spinners ver quickly

chantilly 2024-07-19 22:59:48

That was the key similarity bro. He picks a length very quickly and is very nimble on his feet. Very Sarwansque … I like Hodge as a CRICKETER.

I don't see it. I see a batsman who bats solidly but without complication and any particular style. Could be safer that way

HODGE

I don’t think he looks like Sarwan in deference or even when he plays front foot strokes, but once he rocks unto that back foot for the cut or the pull…. Ooooh yeah

Hodge has taken his games aup a few notches in the past year or do.

It doesn't look like a flash in the pan. This can augurvwell for WI cricket.

A few exciting test cricketers unearthed recently

I hope they all live to the promise

Seales
Athanaze
Hodge
Motie
Sinclair
and hopefully M Louis.

McKenzie not that I don't think he is up and coming but to be honest those list have stood out for me.
