All his balls are around 130-135k vs 140-145 in Australia. Thata's big difference.

Why has Shamar's pace dropped off so much?
In reply to 1Desiabnu
No cricket for a few months will do that to you.
Also the cramps are a sigh of lack of full fitness.
Blame the CWI for not having proper camps.
Even amidst the WC, he should have been working out with a proper coach.
Sitting on the bench in the ipl. I said long before...he should have been back home playing first class cricket if they were not going to play him.
Net effect of the lure of the IPL
He needs another “special booster vaccination” on his toe.
At his fastest Shamar was not as fast as Alzarri, however, Shamar probably has not regained his rhythm yet.
In reply to TanteMerle
Damn. I thought he would have been working hard in the nets or wherever to come back even stronger. Not saying pace is everything, but it was nice to have an enforcer for one series. We have bowlers in that low 130 range. Aljo is still at 135-140-same as australia, but he can't put two balls in the same area.
In reply to dayne
Dude, Shamar was considerably faster than Aljo in Australia. I would say about +5kph on average.
In reply to 1Desiabnu
Shamar was easily WI fastest bowler in Oz.
But when you have zero red ball cricket in 6 months with mostly bench warming in between, well you can see the results.
Lack of match practice and preparation will have an effect on the body.
Shamar will eventually get there by the third test.
In reply to SnoopDog
Yea at that pace 5kph is a BIG difference. You go from not seeing the ball to really not seeing the ball.
In reply to 1Desiabnu
Oh yeah.
That extra yard of pace makes ALL the difference, especially if it moves off the seam.
There is fitness, then there is sports fitness beyond which there is test match fast-bowling fitness specifically. Unnuh work dat out. Nets and match ah nuh same thing
In reply to WIForever
You gonna pay him 350k to stay home and play FC cricket?
Some of yall does really chat shyte... free money on offer why should he refuse it?
In reply to 1Desiabnu
That is debatable.
In reply to anthonyp
But look at how much his game and fitness has regressed.
As soon as these lickit leagues started throwing money at him (only for him to end up warming the bench) I knew it would fcuk up his game.
Then that ass clown Scammy picked him for the WC and had him doing sweet fcuk all the entire tournament.
In reply to dayne
It's literally not debatable as it was measured.
What alyuh griping bout....how many wickets did express fast Wood get?
Sham Jo will get there....as he learns his craft at the highest level ....without proper FC experience.,,,,he needs to play full domestic seasons or even county cricket
And he was not only warming bench in IPL.....he did the donkey work in the nets...Alyuh remember young Drakes...after donkey work in the IPL....he done
In reply to Narper
Wood’s pace created the chances at the other end.
But this is about how in the space of 6 months a bowler can go from bowling 95mph and routing an Ozzie team to bowling 85 mph and cramping every innings and not looking like taking a wicket.

In reply to Narper
Didn’t the guy who made a hundred get dropped off Wood’s bowling before he even had 50?
In reply to Narper
The best thing for Shamar’s career is to lose some of these lickit contracts and get back to playing proper first class cricket again.
In reply to SnoopDog
Of these options, what would you say is the best thing for his overall future?
In reply to Da-Vincy
Of the lickit leagues, IMO he should choose the one or two where he will be in the playing 11 and not a glorified net bowler warming the bench.
In reply to SnoopDog
Truth sire, but you know money is a big factor and hard to resist
if it come without much work
In reply to hubert
For me the choice is: earn a lot now and put the rest of your career in jeopardy, or earn enough now and preserve your career for as long as possible to earn even more in the long run.
In reply to SnoopDog
but tomorrow is high risk esp wi cricket
there is no guaranteed future of wi test cricket...
a few years ago i suggested multiyear contracts (haha before England fih true) but cwi may not have the resources to put several guys on long term like England
In reply to SnoopDog
If this is really your hope for him, i.e. earnings and ‘preservation’, then you should instead be advocating that the focus on Lickit.
For one, test cricket imposes a greater physical toll on him as a fast bowler. Plus, especially playing for WI where they chop and change inexplicably, there’s no guarantee that he’ll have a spot a year from now. Then of course there’s the vast pay differential.
So what’s really the case for him to forego T20 opportunities to focus on Tests? For your viewing pleasure?
kraigg has given us 90-odd test matches. And still getting plenty cuss. And I’m certain he and family are not doing as “well” as Bravo, Narine, Russell and the others who sign up for every Lickit under the sun.
Shamar should have used his time bettering his game.
He did not. Everyday he's sitting is an opportunity to strengthen himself.
In reply to mikelegend "He needs another “special booster vaccination” on his toe."
Neverknow. He was really charged up in OZ. hope they didnot give him one of those opioid pain relievers. How was the pace in the domestic competition prior to oz?
