I blame Franno…

You cant coach a man to run only 60 meters when you are preparing for 100 meters

Yes he did. Congrats to Lyles. 5/1000 of a sec over Thompson.....McKenley and Remigino of
US all over as in 1952. Closest 100m in 72 years.
Well done Thompson for first Ever Olympic....leaning to tape is an art.smile

Lyles is deserving.

He’s an idiot though. Nobody likes him. Not his own teammates(he’s recently started a fight with the American 400m champion)or other American sportsmen

I had my reservations with the lack of experience thing...has to learn to lean...
At least it would have been a Dead Heat.
But Thompson will get better.

You have to give Lyles credit. I was shocked he won. My eyes were on Kishane and Kerley

Yes. Figured Thompson would win with 9.75..Kerley was right there but Lyles
experience in going the rounds helped and his lean was decisive.
Great race...

Yes I gave him credit...the experience mattered and his lean was what got Thompson
whose inexperience showed...but he will learn as he is younger and will improve.
This is an absolutely New International thing for him.
Kudos to him..he has what it takes to get real good.

I thought of Asafa just before the race ..another Franno Charge smile

9.79 should not have got Thompson....and Seville did not have much
left in the tank..Both are young...more races in the International Arena
will be invaluable to their growth.

I think they were all nervous in such a big event, but Lyles finishing speed and and lean earned him the victory! IOW he ran the perfect race where any little mistake would cost you!
