The Teams:
Both the home side and the visitors will likely make changes for the final test at Birmingham. England may choose to rest Chris Woakes or Mark Wood, or even both if they feel that neither of the 34/35 year old seamers are required for this "dead rubber" match. Dillon Pennington may well come in to the side for his test debut. The West Indies will probably welcome the return of a healthy again Gudakesh Motie, following his recent illness. The form of Kirk McKenzie may also result in a conversation regarding a change toward the top of the order.
The Pitch:
Edgebaston was last used for a red ball first class game between Warwickshire and Hampshire several weeks ago, was batsman friendly with the visitors scoring 453/6 declared in their second innings, setting Warwickshire an unlikely target of almost 500 to win. The home side managed to earn a draw, finishing on 321/9. Spin was not a threat during the match, with seam and swing bowlers taking the wickets.

Conditions For The Third & Final Test
Drop both mckenzie and louis time to see what imlach and mccaskie can do before the south africa tests.and sinclair misses out for motie .

I would agree with 66% of your selection
For me, Louis must stay in the side and be given an extended run of games. I would like to see him at Edgebaston and then all four home tests. McKenzie will likely fair better against South Africa and Bangladesh on home pitches but a look at Tevin Imlach makes sense with the series already gone.

Louis must get at least 10 matches...so he plays this, the 2 against SA, 2 against Bangladesh and 2 against Pakistan next January
by then he would have had 9 tests going into the regional fc season...Tage had 10
they both would know exactly where things are at

Good thinking...can't expect youngsters to show anything until you have given them the opportunity. OK, so some will fail often and early...but in time, some will come through with having learned from the experience and be better players because of it.

it also gives players a little sense of security so they can at least for a year get any fear of failure out of the way...once that period is over they have a clearer picture of where things are at with their own game...

McKenzie scored the most runs in Australia so I'd be inclined to give him the whole series. Louis hasn't gotten a big score but has mostly looked the part. He should play for sure. And since Motie is likely to take more wickets than Sinclair he should be included if fit.

how many tests in how many different countries has McKenzie played, how many before his 1st 50 and a 50 vs a good team...same question for Athanaze? Why a sure ten for Louis regardless of results?
When you answer those questions, ask yourself (do not let me ask you) witting or unwittingly why the double standards? I don't think you guys realize what you are saying nor know why.

You misunderstand. Taking a look at Tevin Imlach, as an option for this "dead rubber", does not discard McKenzie in any shape of form. If you read my earlier post (the 3rd post in this thread). I clearly state how McKenzie will likely fair better against South Africa and Bangladesh. I certainly would NOT discard him.

Mckensie had a challenging time against the regional bowlers last first-class season, he scored one fifty for the season. it might be a good idea to give him a rest so he could figure things out in his mind.
Imlach and Motie for McKenzie and Sinclair.

Weather and team news update a day before the start of the third and final test at Edgebaston:
Team News
Neither side have named their XI as yet. This differs from the first two tests when both sides chose to reveal their initial starting XIs prior to the first day. England are expected to make at least one change in the pace bowling department, resting veterans Chris Woakes and/or Mark Wood with the series already won. As reported on Cricinfo & Windies Cricket websites, Akeem Jordan has replaced Jeremiah Louis in the squad and trained with the team yesterday. It remains to be seen whether or not he will receive his first test cap and if the West Indies choose to make any other changes to their XI for Edgebaston. Motie, who missed the second test at Trent Bridge last week due to illness, is expected to return to the side.
Weather Forecast
