Heads should roll over the electric car fiasco
Just another failure championed by Biden.
I only hope that our colleague Dukes' electric vehicle is working out well for him.
Heads should roll over the electric car fiasco

On a related note, all the Chinese manufactured batteries for E-bikes are catching fire in NYC.
In reply to StumpCam
This electric vehicle (including E-bikes) thing is a bad idea. Just as bad as the idea of self-driving cars.
The infrastructure for EV's needs to be improved before people start embracing them, also batteries need to be able to give more miles on one charge.

A friend of mine said his Tesla he bought several years ago has dropped 10% efficiency in its charging and driving range is impacted. He says it's a piece of garbage, very unreliable and to top it off, Elon slashed prices on the newer models so he had known better he would have waited until this year to get one. He's hooked on its straight line speed so I don't think he will give it up. He's just disgusted but too lazy to make a change now.
All this news about electricity is quite shocking, to be honest. The ancestors were right, it's witchcraft.
In reply to DukeStreet
I love it how your friend is Soooooooooo disgusted by his car but ‘he’s just gonna hang on to it for now because ummmmm… it’s just too much trouble to do something about it’
Yep uhuh
I just love the we are all doomed brigade
Abandon technology on all its forms! It’s a cult!
Happy Sunday my brother
In reply to Curtis
We may have rushed to the idea, but despite this tumble it is the future!

Conflicts abound in the development of this EV industry. Politics all mixed in.
You mentioned Elon Musk, a pioneer in the development of the industry, now contributing n millions per month to Donald Trump's presidential campaign, when said Trump is championing the Oil and Gas industry. Biden, on the contrary, has spent his entire administration pushing this EV thing as a better alternative.

No bro electric cars were actually around since 1901 and quite prevelant during the earlier part of the 20th century but similar struggles existed and the proponents of fossil fuels won the battle at the time.
But there are many examples of effecient electric vehicles for the time with similar limitations more or less without the proper infrastructural support, the market swayed toward ICE, now the same is happening despite strong proponents and a great deal of support .
Market forces just don't want to have to worry about range and recharging limitations no matter how intelliget sophisticated or not, and as you know market forces can't be stopped .

I was never quite sold on the EV thing. But it has become the rave and future.
Gasoline will be around for a long time.
Wonder if the hydrogen power or solar are not better alternatives . But that will
take some ingenuity, money, commitment and other things to make that reality.
Maybe the South Koreans will or if the Germans really step into the fray Big time.
I probably won't be around to see such but who knows; Time to retire Petroleum
and get rid of the Reserve Currency of the USA.
I can dream, can't I

One is woke, the other half-woke!
The Fiasco is available in any colour as long as it's green.

Elon is a bigger republican supporter now due to his resolve and history dealing with his estranged daughter who now calls herself his "son". He just can't deal with the rainbow agenda thingy and it's apparently pushed him over the edge.
In reply to Halliwell
It is what it is. Sad you don't get out much and have friends who exhibit failures and disappointments in life choices. It happens, my brother. It happens.

How many more years for Fossil ? Pray tell.
Put your time frame on it.
In reply to hubert
It is a guess. Maybe we find a lot more and that tacks on a few more decades but how does that get away from the fact that it is not an infinite resource?
The sun is not an infinite resource but when the sun goes out so does our existence. It just makes sense to develop technologies based on energy such as wind, solar, hydro, etc. to the point where they can replace fossil fuels.
In reply to hubert
Last one for you.
Let us say fossil fuels will run out in 99 years.
If I was the next generation I would be pissed you do not care about my future because you won't be around.
Would not wait long to put the generation in a nursing home.
I wonder how they felt back in the day when the motor car replaced the horse and cart?
One thing I know about life is that you can’t stop what we call progress
The only constant in life is change
Another thing- I believe the earth is a living mechanism
I have always wondered when we dig into it and remove oil and what we determine as precious objects, how it feels?
In reply to nick2020
Did you read my post to which you ask Are fossil fuels infinite? No.
Long time does not mean infinite.
It has been around for over 100 years already and you are suggesting another 99 .
Where do we disagree ?????
Do you know if water, electric/battery preceded fossil fuel. ?
In reply to hubert
I didn't say you said infinite.
You said gasoline will be around for a long time. Neither of us know how much longer.
But given it is not going to be around forever I would believe we should be proactive and divest our reliance on it.
Maybe choose something that will be around for a long, long time.
EV is currently seen as Elon Musk, at least in the US and that is not good for the industry but make no mistake it will come good, maybe commercial vehicles should be the early focus.

Boss, every time you see "Edited" appended to my posts it is because CC.com has eaten or truncated the post. And I'm not using any app-- just the regular browser. The answer is to type in some kind of word editor first, or to copy your text before posting, neither of which I consistently remember to do.

Thanks for that tip.

Works well around town short deliveries etc, but similar challenges with long haul, challenges with freight vs battery weight / range etc.. theoretically it's very effecient etc but other supporting aspects need to catch up.
Also I'm not convinced that battery production in its current form would be sustainable.
Maybe there will be energized roads in the future where electric vehicles can tap into somehow when necessary, kinda like a train or trolley bus with less intrusive seamless contact points.
In reply to JayMor
Are you saying that the site's latest makeover/update was an unmitigated disaster?
In reply to nick2020
That was the gist of my post...kit will be around a long time BECAUSE there is no
Real alternative to replace it in totality worldwide.
But if Germany /South Korea, as I cited step better things could emerge to 'retire'
petroleum sooner than later.
By something I mean, a source that will be totally better for the Environment in ever way, sustainable and
affordable for the poorest of the fools like me ,globally
I don't that on the horizon but it is incumbent on the current, younger and coming generation to pursue such as they
will be the ones that will not only benefit but make the earth a better place to live..
I repeat...I won't be around to see such. Maybe that will be a good thing
But I have faith in the younger and perhaps yet to be born to accomplish such as each generation,
whether we recognize it or not tend to do better in most things than their parents and grands.
Maybe you and your children will be at the forefront in this.
I trust SCIENCE.
