It’s not their fault

Our players are unprepared
WICB is a little sellout board. The warm up game was at a third grade cricket ground behind my back garden. I didn’t attended that I was shocked to think they would go into a test series after such a game. They had a big charity event scheduled before the series which took away game time and valuable practice. The first test they were under cooked but that was the plan because the game was all about Jimmy Anderson he needed a lovely send off.
The board sign off such an itinerary? If I was the coach I’d resign just on the fact I’ve been given the job to go surrender a trophy which ultimately I’d get blame for.
3 or 4 of them should have went with the Academy squad when they toured Ireland.

I think the results of the academy squad in Ireland are more concerning.

you do not fix a foundation with a coat of paint
In reply to GMA
well try the ongoing regional u19 if you think the Ireland tour was concerning

Yes. The board is just praying for success. Practical thinking is vital and then build your game strategic battle approach from there and then take on the war.
In reply to Raggs
there are several clear things they can do over the next year or so
1. get technical help for the guys on this tour - Louis, Athanaze, et al.
2. continue to improve the pitches and general standard of regional cricket
3. get some decent A team tours with technical help for fringe players to improve

I hope they soon realise money have be spend to get a better outcome.Modern sport demands this.

You need cash to care
Some famous politician said that and wicb don't have a pot to piss in

They were set up to fail, help move England from the cellar position of the test championship, why are we picking test teams a week before they go on tour with no methodology regarding team preparation...I find this appalling and unacceptable
In reply to Chrissy
Agreed

the younger ones need YEARS of continuous preparation....a camp or 3 or 4 games before the 1st test would not have a made a difference in the series result....maybe the games would have gone into 4 or 5 days
Ole farts Braffit, Holder and Al Jo are not delivering the goods consistently.
WI players are just not skilled enough...blaming the board everytime doesn't look good...
Which carme first, passion or winning? However to sustain both Administration has to be proactive. The rest of the cricketing world were, we weren't...
We have primary level cricket. The few youths from those programs are to be identified and stream lined through a development program.

they do not get enough FC experience to develop the requisite skills for test cricket.
It took Hodge 10 years to be ready for test cricket
In reply to Narper
You hit it on the head. Just not enough competitive cricket
"Iron sharpens Iron" fast bowlers don't bowl enough in the regionals so we are not really prepared when they come at us.
All agreed but the basic point is that our guys just do not have the skill level for international cricket. To have lost is one thing. To have lost without even being able to take a single game into the 5th day (or without even being able to put the other team under pressure for any sustained period over 3 tests) means that you are simply not at the level of international cricket. Kraigg called for more test cricket but I think that we are not yet ready for that. We need more A team level cricket to see if we can find 11 players worthy of being called internationals.
