Was covered extensively when he broke the WR for silver in Tokyo.
Deserved more coverage this year.

Why didn't he run for Antigua? Greater impact. Would have been Antigua & Barbuda's first olympic medal. Superhero instead of small fish in huge pond. Congrats!!++
Tim Hector would have loved this

Antigua & Barbuda incompetence.
In reply to Mustwin
Found this on the internet after he won silver in the last olympics. He said he grew up on Antigua.
Benjamin, who represented Antigua and Barbuda at the 2015 Carifta Games where he won a silver medal in the 400 metre race, however said he has no regrets over his decision to switch allegiance in 2018.
“I wouldn’t necessarily call it a regret, but it’s just the opportunities from a financial standpoint and the opportunities from a professional standpoint, I felt that competing for the US checked a lot of boxes. Sometimes I feel like there is a lot of disappointment that I didn’t compete for Antigua, but it’s something that I kind of got over at a certain point,” he said.

He is American no? School college everything
I like that he had his Pops in the stand. I think Benjie himself recounts how when Mom had to send Rai to Antigua for few yrs he was so hard upnthat it was his brother who took care of things. Great there's a solid relationship
And now he anchors the USA to gold in the 4 x 400 great finish.
Big up.

Admin(s), please move this to the Back room where it belong.
Thanks in advance.
In reply to TanteMerle
Why does it belong to the back room? Is Winston not a former West Indian cricketer?
Stale news anyways. I picked 1-2-3 too bad our VI Kyron Mcmaster did not medal but 5th not bad.

Why lucky?
And why is this post in the Rum Shop?
In reply to Bamboocane
I better understand. Unbelievable.
In reply to TanteMerle
No - he is a cricketer’s son
In reply to Chrissy
So.
This is not about cricket. It's about the Olympics.
In reply to TanteMerle
Its about both. A cricket story and an Olympic story. Where it resides is secondary to it being told and celebrated.

Congrats and big up to the Benjamin family.
This is a sad story: With the sad part being he said for financial and future reasons he felt it was necessary to represent the USA- he grew up in Antigua.
This isn't the first and it won't be the last time our athletes and sports persons go on to represent other bigger northern countries at our expense.
How sweet it would it have been if Antigua was on the medal.
As a region, we collectively need to find the code to fix this difficult problem. Let me stress, I am glad for the youngster and I am not blaming him for representing the USA instead of Antigua.

End of story.
Nice to see you

Ok more cricket do you know that Rai aspired to be a cricketer- Batsman that is. He was mesmerised by Brian Lara but he just was not good enough.
Rai himself says he is not a cricket person although he found Brian Lara, the great former West Indies batsman, “hypnotic to watch.”Rai

Yo bro and sis. Let's agree to disagree.
This is not a democracy, as admin has the power.
I can live with it, cause I really do not care.
I just thought that common sense would have prevailed.
After-all, we do have a back room.
I just would not participate any further in this tread,
and that my prerogative, I hope that you would be bitchy about it.
According to medalspercapita.com the beautiful Caribbean island of Grenada has the most medals per capita, registering two Olympic medals with a population of only 112,000.
