Most of the hires during the last 30 years have treated WICB/CWI as a retirement fund while making no significant progress of solving our cricketing woes.

You got that right.

The only persons getting hired are those that pledge not to disrupt the system, they are not looking for change makers.

Selecting this guy was grave mistake

CWI CEO's objective...

Former successful Australian opening batter Arthur Morris summed up the legacy best when in retirement he was asked what he gained from cricket.
His succinct answer was: "Poverty"

At least johnny give interviews, but the guy that the big idiot appointed was never seen nor heard.

Baje 2024-08-12 21:36:30

He also responded promptly to questions posed in group chats providing valuable and timely information. I hope that his replacement would communicate as well as he did.
Financially under his tenure the board did well and there have been more exposure for the u19 and A teams. Personally I think we are on the right track.

I think he did alright, he was seen and heard.

I hope they name a competent replacement

It says a lot about us when we have to reach outside of the area to find someone for such a simple job.

I think that’s harsh Hubert.

Without knowing what the job description is and / or privy to goals / targets set for the CEO…..really can’t truly assess his performance or lack thereof.

Going strictly by WI performances isn’t exactly fair IMO. There are a lot of factors that contribute to performance including the fact he can’t play the game for the cricketers.

I agree with Baje and tc1. He certainly communicated better than his predecessors.

Hilaire for example acted like he had a boulder on his shoulder and while he may have possessed characteristics that are attractive to business types, ultimately proved to be an ineffective administrator with dictatorial tendencies. A prime example of a plantation manager. That might have worked for an earlier time…..not in today’s world.

You really feel CEO of CWI is a “simple job”?

Can't agree more with you.......Since this regime assume office in 2019.....two office bearers survived and prospered..... Jimmy Adams, who still working in different capacity with CWI administration and Grave, whose term expires in October......
In these 5 years, so many disasters and disappointments..... performance on field...

2019 World Cup....2 wins ,8 losses...change entire coaching staffs and appointed Reifer , as head Coach, who also has been working with CWI administration in different capacities despite abysmal record...

2021 T-20 World Cup....Team of retirees.. disasters... relegated to playing qualifiers....

2022 T-20 World Cup....Failed to qualify....

2023 failed to qualify for ODI world cup..

failed to qualify for Champions Trophy..

2024. Poor T-20 world cup as host...

Red ball also spiral downward.....only notable achievement...a win against Bangladesh in 2020 and a win in Australia after 2027 years...
Losses are many....most recently an English white wash after 15 years.
Despite poor record, no disruption.... players are happy, posters are happy, Caricom bosses are happy, regional people are happy....
Tough decisions..... nobody appreciate or like ..
Nobody even remembers.." Ten points agenda" of the present regime , how much has been implemented and it's effect....

CWI is extremely top heavy. Take any corporation the same revenue size and examine their structure, you will find the executive team is smaller and they work in a functional area that adds value.

At most, a 4 person working executive team should be able to handle the core functions along with 2 administrative staff and coaches.

You are free to disagree./.. But tell me what you think the job of a CEO is ...Seen and talk according to some on his thread.
If you hire a CEO what would be his duties...remember CEO...ok
Have a go. I am waiting.

I think the authorities should break out of the 'trend' that confines new hires to fellow islanders, and hire that Muddie, Dr Hinds, as the Graves replacement. Hope he is available.

West Indies still needs English to shepherd their cricket?

Does India need Pakistan to shepherd them to win an Olympic gold medal?
