Why Was McKenzie Dropped?

XDFIX 2024-08-17 23:15:36

Higher standard for Yardies or commentators' curse?

pkriston 2024-08-18 00:31:14

You can't be serious

he looked way out of sorts and his replacement at least looked more at ease

back to the drawing board

anthonyp 2024-08-18 01:14:54

Lol... well this didn't go as planned lol

You expected people to support you on this?

McKenzie was rightfully dropped! Get over it.

Why Was McKenzie Dropped?

Unlike when he played down under in Ozz, he looked out of sorts against the swinging ball in England.

We didn't want to chance a repeat of the latter before his home crowd(s), so we saved him (and us) the probable embarrassment.

All's good.

ducks 2024-08-18 03:00:54

better questions why was he not played in the warm up match? Is it a permanent discard?

jahmekyah 2024-08-18 04:58:32

Jamaica has been ostracize by cwi
This has been going on for a long time
This is the final nail in the coffin

Drapsey

Is the team better off without him?

XDFIX 2024-08-18 11:31:22

In reply to anthonyp

I am more concerned with getting over that defeat ‘irregardless’ of the replacement

Drapsey 2024-08-18 11:42:36

In reply to XDFIX

Is the team better off without him?

Yes, for the mere fact that the team (squad and all) was Yardiless.

The head coach's head is next on the chopping block.

granite 2024-08-18 12:16:17

A change or 2 must happen for the third test, one change for certain is Kirk.Mc.Kenzie must replace K.Cartey.I sort of think about M.Louis to be replaced with Solozano, our bowling looks good for now.

I believe this is a 2 test series. Thus SA won the series 1-0?

Didn't McKenzie average 35 v Australia ?

They dropped Bonner (avg 38 ), Bravo (avg 36) & Blackwood (avg 31) and went to a whole new middle order. They could've transitioned Carty/Athanaze/Hodge slowly with the more productive crew

granite 2024-08-18 13:06:13

In reply to Emir

I wasn't aware but I feel Mc.Kenzie was unfairly treated like so many in past selections, sometimes you don't understand how and why, LBW375 explained.

LBW375 2024-08-18 13:20:06

WIvSA test series average: Batting

Holder 121 runs @ 61

Joseph 36 runs @ 18
Braithwaite 63 runs @ 16

Mckenzie deserves a drop after the Hingland series. He had no form going into the series. He will bounce back better than before. The talent is there. There are no world beaters on this current squad/team. Brathwaite gotta go!! We have supporting players on this team. No world beaters. No leadership nor confident players.

TanteMerle 2024-08-19 12:26:21

What was McKenzie claim to fame that got him on the team first?
How did he look in the last windies championship?
How did he look in Hingland?
Why was Tage and Macaskie dropped but you think McKenzie should stay?

His drop is deserved.
Others' coming soon, starting with Braffit as cappo.

natty_forever 2024-08-19 13:51:38

Because he had pis poor scores and looked like a deer in headlights.

After McKenzie shouldered the batting for West Indies against Australia, can you imagined that the young player was dropped after only one test failure. How do we expect our young players to develop? Considering that his replacements have proven to be no better than him.

PalsofMine 2024-08-19 20:35:58

In reply to Slipfeeler

Come on, man. Shouldered the batting????? We really have low expectations when a man who averages under 35 is stated as shouldering the batting. All he did was to do slightly better than the rest of the poor WI batting. McKenzie was not dropped after one test failure. He was dropped after a failure for the entire FC season and then in 3 tests in which he averaged 5 or less. If anyone ever deserved a drop, it was McKenzie. I am sure if you call him up, he would not dispute that.

Slipfeeler 2024-08-19 21:13:47

In reply to PalsofMine

The reality was that like Nash, he too was dropped after one test failure, it’s like they cannot wait to drop Yardies, just in case they come good next series!!

PalsofMine 2024-08-19 22:50:49

Yeah, it seem so, so live with it big grin

natty_forever 2024-08-19 23:39:38

Because we cannot kill him.

Nash. If McKenzie could bat like Nash I would join the crusade. And he ugly, remember what goes for one goes for all.

Take a look at the batting average for the SA series and tell me if McKenzie doesn’t belong, thanks! smile

natty_forever 2024-08-20 22:06:23

In reply to XDFIX

His would be far inferior to those.

jahmekyah 2024-08-20 22:59:12

majority on this board are very happy that there are no yardies on the WI team

ostracizing jamaica from Wi cricket with the consent of JCA

Does the JCA really get US10 to 12 millions from the CWI coffers?

Jumpstart 2024-08-21 00:08:59

I told allyuh McKenzie was a dude to keep. We have not had a batsman since Samuels who can consistently hit straight. And he has changed that trend. The dude has talent.

This shouldn't even warrant a conversation....Mckenzie was rightfully dropped after England series ....now with the benefit of hindsight ppl are saying he shouldn't have been dropped cause subsequently others have proved to be just as bad or worse in the series against SA is just nonsense ... an how is "talent" defined by a pretty 20 or 30 something?....i fed up hearing about talent i wanna see runs on the board i wanna see batsmen working hard an selling their wickets dearly an i dnt mind how ugly it looks it's called test cricket!!

PalsofMine 2024-08-21 13:07:32

In reply to CCW

and he wasnt even that pretty in England for his 1s and 5s and 11. He has talent but he is just not ready and keeping him in the test team when he is not ready is as harmful to him as it is to the entire team and those who may marginally more deserve a chance to play. There are no Grenadians, Vincentians, Lucians etc, Montserratians etc in the team and we do not get the complaint on their behalf from these posters. Things that make you go hmmmmmm!

Baje 2024-08-21 13:12:58

The coach lost confidence in him

Let's organize a boycott to get some Justice for young Mckenzie who was unfairly dropped after shouldering our batting one series ago. DWL

mckenzie has one thing that many wi batsmen or recent vintage don't have...talent. kraigg brathwaite does not have talent and has been given an inexplicably long rope as a batsman and a captain. if kb reaches 100 tests, he will probably be the worst batsman in terms of average to achieve the mark. secondly, mckenzie went to play in england, where many, many players struggle. kohli, after the pomp and pagentry of his australia success, was embarrassed by james anderson in his first proper visit there in 2014. In 2014, Kohli registered scores of 1, 8, 25, 0, 39, 28, 0, 7, 6, and 20 in five Tests at an average of 13.50 in 10 innings. i did not see india drop him

camos 2024-08-21 16:44:40

The guy was the most successful WI batsman in Australia, second most for either team, went to England and struggled, came back and not even warrant a try in the warmup match of SA tour?

I would say that is clear sign of confused management.

McKenzie avg 5.00 against England, he recorded 1 fifty during the domestic season, imagine him facing KG on these even tracks.

Let him work on his game and come back a better player.

Wow...what a terrible comparison you cant be serious!!!...surely i dnt need to tell you that when ur a great player goin thru a lean spell ur given a lot more leeway (an so yuh should!!) than an unproven rookie who's only claim to fame is having "talent" (yes that much over used word again!!)....i suggest you go an check how many 100's Kohli had under his belt prior to the lean spell yuh dig out ...as they say form is temporary class is permanent.....at this point yuh bai Mac has neither!!!
