Shah said. "While the T20 is a naturally exciting format, it is equally important that Test cricket remains a priority for everyone as it forms the bedrock of our game. We must see to it that cricketers are driven to longer format and our efforts will be channelised towards this goal.

When I first saw him in the world cup in the Caribbean, earlier this year, I thought he was a mascott as he was shorter than a Guyanese Bacoo.

I had to research who Jay really was

"In February 2015, Shah married Rishita Patel, his college girlfriend, in a traditional Gujarati ceremony. The wedding was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other high-ranking public officials

Shah's company's revenue increased 16,000 times one year after Narendra Modi became the Indian Prime Minister."

That depends on the willingness of the players and live audience! Apart from the Big 3, the crowd is usually sparse.
Sometimes you just have to accept reality!

And I don't know if West Indian crowds are aware that, the home team now gets all the revenue for a tour. Prior to that, there was a 50/50 split so it was lucrative for WI to tour England, Australia, India etc.

Now, when WI tours away from home, they wouldn't get any revenue so WI now depends on home crowds to support them along with Sponsors. From the sparse crowds in the Caribbean, it means WICB is totally dependent on Sponsors.

https://archives1.dailynews.lk/2018/05/30/sports/152401/cricket-west-indies-argues-better-revenue-share-bi-lateral-tours
""Under the current bilateral agreement, Grave explained, all of the costs of a tour are borne by the host nation but to a certain extent all of the income is kept by the home nation, which he said is ‘massively skewed in favour of the countries that either have very low operating costs or have huge economic markets.’

“Clearly, when we go and play England and they are playing in front of sell-out crowds at a cost of probably US$100 a ticket and a TV market paying millions and millions of dollars, it’s very different than when they come over here and we keep full share but obviously much smaller revenues,” he said.""

As they say, Charity begins at home, if you don't pay money to support your team, then under this model, your board and players not getting any money.

i doh know about that. when australia was the dominant board, we didn't have this problem., in fact on more than one occasion, tours of australia saved the WICBC/WICB from insolvency, the 1979/80 tour down under being a very good example. in fact the only board that deliberately tried to undermine the WI was the then TCCB, and even that was unofficially until they got through with the bouncer ban, and we were going down by then anyway(still went unbeaten for a further five years)
