St Lucia Kings vs Trinbago Knight Riders

Caribbean Premier League. It is Match 12

6pm Neither the St Lucia Kings or the Trinbago Knight Riders won their last games. Those results, though, could not have come in more contrasting fashion. While the Knight Riders lost a game they could well have won on another day, the Kings just did not turn up against the Guyana Amazon Warriors, were bundled out for 100 and saw that score being chased down in 10 overs.

So, even though the immediate objective of both sides will be similar - to return to winning ways tonight - they might have to overcome slightly different hurdles and obstacles. The Kings, having been chastened so harshly in their first outing at home, will have to completely cast aside memories of that encounter; the Knight Riders, meanwhile, will want to retain the things that served them well against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, wanting a more coherent display that makes that defeat seem more and more like an aberration. All while two vital points remain up for grabs…

Trinbago Knight Riders....2 pts

6:15pm The Kings hold a 3-2 advantage over the Knight Riders in their past five meetings.
Will they come out on top again tonight, or will the Knight Riders throw a spanner in their works?

Pitch Report: 62m and 63m square boundaries, 74m hit straight down the ground. Alzarri Joseph joins Pommie Mbangwa for the pitch report, and Joseph says hitting against the wind will be pretty tough. There is a slight dark patch on a good length, like the other evening and that might be an area bowlers look to target. There could be some moisture underneath because of all the rain around.

More info from the toss: Pollard admitted that they did look a little rusty and that they have to go out and earn the right to win, irrespective of who they are facing. Two forced changes, with Russell one of those missing out, alongside Little. du Plessis, meanwhile, mentioned the pitch does not look as tacky as the other evening and their goal is to put up a good total on the board.

Keacy Carty: (On his start to the season) I have been dismissed once, luckily have had a bit of luck on my side. 100 runs in two innings - it has been a good start. Just trying to do my job on the day. Your job might change game to game and you just have to adapt (sometimes). (On batting in a line-up of explosive hitters) Not really difficult. I am not an explosive player, not an out-and-out six-hitter but I can hit a six when need be. I try to play my natural game.

Odinlass: "Don't know about the wicket but hope The St Lucia Kings make 200+ for TKR to chase." -- This venue did produce plenty of runs during the men's T20 World Cup in June, although the Kings might not be thinking too far ahead, and their objective, right at the outset, will likely be to get off to a good start.

....Seales to share the new ball. Can he get among the wickets on his birthday?

Seales to Charles, SIX runs

six more, although this is much streakier! Length on the stumps. Charles gets his front foot out of the way and swipes across the line. Gets a fat leading edge that swirls away over the third man fence!

Seales to Charles, FOUR runs
six and now a four! Too much width outside off and Charles cashes in. Waits for it, opens his bat face and glides it over backward point!

Seales to Charles, SIX runs
just enough! In the slot outside off. Charles clears his front leg and swings at it with all his might. Muscles it towards long off, where Roy leaps into the air and tries to haul it back in but is unable to do so. Top effort, though

One dong

Darted in full on leg stump. Charles shapes for the switch hit and it seems Narine was ready for that too, hence the fuller length. Charles is forced to muscle it down the ground because he cannot swipe across it and all he does is offer a simple catch to Pollard, stationed at long on!

Narine to Descarte, OUT
huge appeal, not given! Back of a length delivery that pitches on middle and leg and then spins away. Descarte has no clue about it and goes nibbling at it. Pooran thinks the batter has nicked it but the umpire is unmoved. Pollard, after a bit of chat, opts to review. The ball is quite close to the outside edge and UltraEdge confirms a nick. Clear enough spike, and Descarte has to go!

Hosein to du Plessis, 2 runs
another chance goes down! Flighted up full outside off, enticing du Plessis to go inside-out. The Kings skipper is beaten in the air, though, and slices it badly. Narine ambles after it from short third and makes a complete meal of it. He never looked comfortable under it
