Barbados Royals vs Trinbago Knight Riders
6pm Second versus fourth. A team with three wins out of three, against a side with two wins out of three. A franchise led by the current West Indian captain, versus an outfit captained by a former West Indian skipper (and one of their greatest ever T20 exponents). Two swashbuckling, left-handed wicket-keeper batters on either side and finishers to fear - the more you look at it, the more the Barbados Royals and the Trinbago Knight Riders seem similar.
But perhaps their most congruent trait is that neither will want to finish the season second-best. The Knight Riders, having reached the final last year, will be longing to win the entire thing. The Barbados-based franchise, having fallen at that hurdle in 2022, will also have eyes on the big prize, having not won it since 2019.
So, this contest is set up tantalizingly. The Knight Riders, downed once already this season, will love nothing more than snapping another unbeaten run, especially in front of what is expected to be a raucous home crowd. The Royals, knowing that the Knight Riders will come hard at them, will, just as dearly, want two points, not just to assert their superiority and but also to reiterate that they are the real deal this season.

Trinbago Knight Riders have won the toss and they have elected to field first.
The reason for chasing, Pollard says, is the dew and the chance of showers later in the evening.
He admits their fielding has not been up to the mark and that is something they want to rectify, while also being able to make the most of promising batting situations.
Still no Bravo and Russell and Pollard hopes they are back in contention by the time they reach Trinidad.
Same team for the Royals too.
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa....whooooooooo hoooooooo
Powell adds they have been batting well and that they have to keep improving by 15-20 percent each game.

Pitch Report:
We are on pitch no.3 tonight, meaning that the square boundaries are 64m and 66m, with a 75m hit straight down the ground.
The pitch is bereft of grass, says Daren Ganga and he expects the ball to come on nicely.
Average score last season was 183 and he thinks that that could be on the cards tonight again.
......
Shaqkere Parris: (On what he has been up to in the last few days) Just been doing my recovery, enjoying myself being around the guys.
I have always been watching it (CPL). To be here now, it is a wonderful feeling. (On his last knock) It has given me a lot of confidence.
(Playing at Kensington Oval) Always a wonderful feeling playing here in Barbados (at home).
6:58pm We are just moments away from the start of play. The Knight Riders break away from their huddle, soon followed onto the field by Cornwall and de Kock. This could be a crucial powerplay for both sides.
The Knight Riders break away from their huddle, soon followed onto the field by Cornwall and de Kock. This could be a crucial powerplay for both sides. Hosein has the new ball. Around the wicket to de Kock - let's play!
Lets start the rumble...
...one dong....
Hosein to Cornwall, OUT
edged and gone! Three ducks in a row for Rahkeem Cornwall! Short, wide and there to be hit. Cornwall, though, has a rather loose waft at it without much conviction. The ball bounces a touch extra, grazes the outside edge and Pooran holds on to a sharp chance!

He was looking to swipe it away but the lack of bounce did for him. Struck in front of off stump and Athanaze does not even bother with the review!

knocks him over with an absolute peach!
de Kock has no clue about it and plays well outside the line. The ball breezes through the gap between bat and pad and knocks back off stump. A nod of appreciation and acknowledgement as de Kock walks past Salamkheil, and that is a huge moment in the game!

8:51pm A stunning rescue act by the Royals captain. He walked in when his side was 59-4 and they slipped further into trouble at 71-5. Powell, though, held his nerve, negotiated the Knight Riders' spin threat and then unleashed at the end, playing a pivotal role as the Royals ransacked 28 off the last two. Prior to that, de Kock was at his belligerent best and seemed to be batting on a different surface to the others. Unfortunately for the Royals, only two of their batters found their groove.
The Knight Riders will be largely pleased with their effort, although they might feel they could have kept the Royals down to a much lower total. Narine and Salamkheil was brilliant through the middle overs, keeping the batters guessing with their variations. Hosein, earlier, had started it all off in the first over with two scalps, and those performances mean that the Knight Riders are now chasing a total they should be comfortable chasing. Join us in a bit for the second innings!
Akeal Hosein: (On his performance) It was okay, I could have been much better. (On the pitch) It is actually a good cricket wicket. The ball got wet as we went on in the innings. A bit tricky but execution is the key. I still think they are 15-20 runs short but that said, it is a good total on the board. Batters need to bat properly to get to that target. He (Salamkheil) has continued from where he left off last season and it is a pleasure to have him. He does his job of taking wickets in the middle overs (and keeping the run-rate down).

Maharaj to Pooran, SIX runs
watch that ball fly! Floated up into the slot outside off. Pooran, rather than trying to force it leg side, goes through the line and hoists it over long off!
Maharaj to Pooran, OUT..darn
another miscue and this time, the Royals take it with a splendid double-act! Dangles the carrot on a full length outside off and Pooran bites. Slices it a mile up and Powell settles under it at long off. Misjudges it slightly, meaning that he has to then back-track as he catches it. Powell realizes he is going over and releases the ball, finding Holder (running to his right from long on) with pin-point precision. Excellent presence of mind, and the gamble to bowl Maharaj to Pooran has worked!

Theekshana to Parris, OUT
Parris perishes, and Theekshana breathes life into the Royal's defence!
Carrom ball on a fullish length on middle and off. Parris has a huge swing at it but the ball nips away just enough to cause the miscue. Skews off the outer half of the bat and goes high up. Miller calls early at extra cover, settles under it and makes no mistake. Is there another twist in this game?

serious wrist-work and that is a shot and a half! Slot ball on middle and leg. Carty snaps his wrists into the stroke and whips it over the wide long on fence!
McCoy to Carty, OUT
McCoy breaks through, and the Kensington Oval finds its voice again! Slower ball on a back of a length on middle and leg. Sticks in the surface and Carty is through his stroke way too early. Chips it back at McCoy, who gets his hands up in time and snares the chance! The Royals keep chipping away!

chopped on! Naveen gets the big fish, and that is a humongous moment in the game!
Full outside off and Pollard's eyes light up looking at the length. He has a go at it but tugs at it too hard. Bottom hand takes over and all he does is drag it back onto his stumps. Pollard is disappointed but the Royals are pumped, as are the thousands in the stands!

This is getting tense. 32 off 18. Holder will likely bowl the 18th and the 20th, with McCoy bowling the 19th. And right on cue. Here's Holder
Hard length outside off. Hosein hacks at it and gets an inside edge that races away past de Kock!

Barbados Royals...156/7
Trinbago Knight Riders..(19.5/20 ov, T:157) 159/8
Trinbago won by 2 wickets (with 1 ball remaining)
Wow. What a game of cricket. The Royals do not know what has happened. They cannot fathom how this has happened. They seemed to have the game in the bag after dismissing Hosein but then Holder transgressed, bowling a waist-high full toss that was ultimately called a No ball. Hinds then smashed the Free hit a mile back to turn thousands of smiles into more solemn faces. Prior to that, Pooran and Carty did much of the early running. Parris also scratched around for 35 but it came down to the Knight Riders' lower order to get the job done. And they did get the job done. Just.
A tough pill to swallow for the Royals. They had no business dragging this game this close and then putting themselves into a winning position, given the score they had on the board. Yet, they found a way, through sheer grit and determination. However, just when it mattered, they could not hold their nerve and they will definitely look back at this as a missed opportunity. Their unbeaten streak has also been snapped and to make things tougher for them, they have to do it all over again tomorrow against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Akeal Hosein, Player of the Match: We were just trying to stay calm. Myself and Terrance were in a similar situation against Antigua and could not get over the line. Even today, I was upset to leave him alone (to finish it off). The trophy has eluded us for a couple of years. All hands on deck and good to have these type of finishes from the younger guys to help out the senior guys.
Holder to Hinds, SIX runs
Heroic Hinds does it for the Knight Riders, and the heist is complete! The Kensington Oval descends into silence and Hinds has hushed the home crowd! Holder goes for the yorker but errs on the shorter side. Just by a smidgen, mind you, but that is enough for Hinds to wind up, get under it and clobber it clean over the sightscreen. The cleanest of strikes under pressure and the Knight Riders have walked into the Barbados Royals' den and trumped them!
A gentleman started a thread about dunceness. I hoped he had shown up tonight.
Poor bowling by Holder
