Windies great Lara likes TKR's chances in CPL

WEST Indies legend Brian Lara believes Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) can go the distance in this year's Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League T20 tournament with the pedigree in their squad.

TKR will play Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Queen's Park Oval in St Clair at 7 pm on September 18.
Lara gave his brief thoughts on the TT franchise during his book launch on September 17.

"I think obviously TKR will stand up as favourites every time," the batting legend said. "When you look at the quality of players in the team, you would think they should go on to win."

I would like to be as confident as BCL but there are doubts in my mind, both bowling and batting have shown weakness,GAW has shown lots of confidence in both batting and bowling.I hope I'm wrong.

TnT got some serious hitting power.

That Russell was brutal last night.

Imaging having
Narine
Pooran
Pollard
Russell
David

That is supported by three spinnas (Well 2 1/2)
Hosein
Salamkheil
Narine (stonner)

That is a serious team to beat.
Pollard is also a great cappo.

The Greatest Ever was spot on with his prediction and imagine none of the Guyanese Posse come out with a congratulations as they now propping up the bottom half of the table and now must be supporting T&T over Antigua tonight - you can't make this up.

If I was T&T I would lose for spite lol

Russell is a borse we lucky to have him.We do have probably the best spin attack but our fast men are very suspect none looks like 20/20 bowlers, maybe Shepherd was waiting for Hinds.WE need to get Brandon King for next year.lol

Facing Narine, Akeal and Waqar is very intimidating especially if they bowl the 1st 12 overs. You can then have the pace men (who are not as great as the aforementioned 3) come in with the batsmen under pressure to "go for it" in the last 8 overs. In that scenario, it would prove beneficial for the 2 pacemen to get wickets to wrap up the remaining few wickets that the spinners left for them to mop up.

On the flip side, if the spinners don't exert the required pressure in the 1st 12, you could be in trouble with the runs trucks bowling the final 8 however, more often than not, you would expect your spin trio to be in control.

All very true about the bowling. TKR just cannot seem to find a decent pacer to back the spinners. If Russell is fit to bowl, he will have to get in four strategic overs and leave the last four overs for the likes of Hinds, Seales etc who have not been impressive so far. Why doesnt Pouty also bowl a couple overs? If TKR wanted to pick up any players, they need to go for Louis as an opener and Shamar Springer who seems to be the best of the lot of medium pacers from the Caribbean right now. My other question for TKR is why do they play Narine as opener. It has not worked so far on our pitches and you have players like Gous sitting in the dugout or batting down at 7 when he should be opening with Narine able to pelt the bat at the end of the innings along with Hosein and Hinds. I think that they need to reconsider that for the remaining fixtures in Trinidad especially so that everyone is ready for the Guyana leg.

Being 1 down for spit has a psychological effect

in every match so far. Narine could probably work on the flat IPL pitches but not on our cow pasture pitches
