Jordan joins TKR; Amazon Warriors captain Tahir out for ten days with injury
Nathan Sowter joins Amazon Warriors as a temporary replacement for Tahir
Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have been bolstered by the return of Chris Jordan, ahead of their CPL 2024 home leg, which kicks off on September 18. The Barbados-born England international had played five matches for TKR in 2019, taking seven wickets at an economy rate of 9.05 in their run to the knockouts, where they had lost to eventual champions Barbados in qualifier 2. Jordan, 35, will replace USA fast bowler Ali Khan, who has been sidelined from the entire CPL 2024 with injury.
In June earlier this year in Barbados, Jordan enjoyed a happy homecoming, becoming the first England men's player to take a T20I hat-trick, in a T20 World Cup game against USA.
As for Dwayne Bravo, he will play in front of his home crowd for the last time in the CPL. Bravo, who will turn 41 in October, will retire from the CPL after the ongoing season, but will continue to feature in other franchise T20 leagues.

A remarkable, swashbuckling innings of 52 not out off 19 deliveries by Kieron Pollard against the St. Lucia Kings on their home ground at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia on September 10 gave Trinbago Knight Riders their third win in four games of the 2024 Caribbean Premier League.Pollard claimed in an interview after the match that the hostility of the crowd greeting him with loud boos when he entered the playing field to take his turn at the wicket incensed him to such an extent that he used those feelings to motivate him to drive his team to victory in the game.
He couldn’t believe that as he had represented the West Indies as their captain in the not-too-distant past, and led that island’s franchise previously in the CPL, he could be treated in that manner. However, instead of allowing their behaviour to have a negative effect on him, he used it as a positive force, to power his team onwards to the winners’ podium.
He used a few deliveries to play himself in carefully, after which he gradually began his merciless onslaught, which led to victory.

TKR take on GAW tonight
Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) start their home leg of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League against defending champions Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW), at the Queen’s Park Oval, tonight.
The eagerly-anticipated clash bowls off from 7 p.m. with the Knight Riders sitting fourth on the CPL table on six points, following three wins from four outings thus far in the campaign. The Warriors are third in the standings with a similar record, but with a better net run rate.
TKR, beaten in last season’s final by the Warriors, head into today’s fixture on the back of wins against the Barbados Royals and St Lucia Kings, while GAW stumbled on their most recent outing when they fell to the Royals.

Boring?
18 matches have played so far
7 of them have come down to the result decided in the last over
Of that 7, 4 came down to the last ball.
Not sure why you would call that boring.
In reply to imusic
Yea fair point but it’s boring in the sense that we haven’t seen anything that will help WI cricket move forward!!! Once again a foreigner is topping the batting charts and spinners are taking wickets!!!
Where’s the youngsters that are going to carry on CPL how long are we going to ride the silly Chicken Curry vs Curry Chicken train!!!

We have a few that's hatching in T&T leagues...
.....Welcome to Port of Spain for this mid-table clash between traditional rivals TKR and GAW.
Yesterday we witnessed Barbados Royals sealing their playoff spot and both teams will hope to take their own step in that direction tonight.
It will be a closely fought match tonight and the weather looks clear for uninterrupted action.
News from the middle is that TKR have won the toss and opted to bowl.
They are a team who love chasing this season and onus will be on GAW to post an imposing total.
Ok Easy win....mail in the two points... Chicken curry...
On paper trinidad has a much stronger and solid team with more experience.
I do not have confidence in shai hope captaincy.
shai Hope made too many mistakes with bowling changes in the last game.
Tahir absence is a big loss.
Squad update:
TKR recently added England pacer Chris Jordan to their squad too, in place of Ali Khan.
Does he get a game right away?

....Nirvan: "Tonight's game is completely sold out and there's already plenty vibes in the stands!"
6.58pm TKR give Dwayne Bravo a guard of honour as he returns to Port of Spain, his home ground, for the first time this season. The guard of honour is because Bravo announced before this season that this will be his last CPL. Akeal Hosein will get us going.

peach! Shamar returns, gets a ball to nip back in sharply, and Pollard must go! Fullish ball outside off. Pollard presses forward to push at this while walking down and trying to cut the movement. But the ball jags in sharply after pitching, and like a few other dismissals today, it goes through the big gap that a batter has left

That's ultra cool from David! Operating at a strike-rate of under 100 for 22 balls, but when the big moment comes, he brings out the big shot, connecting the first ball of the 20th over for a six!

surprised they took down to the 20th
....
TKR played only two foreign players...
10.56pm It wasn't looking good for Trinbago Knight Riders when their innings appeared to stall through the middle overs. Tim David was not hitting it well either, but when it came down to the final over, he showed why exactly he is one of the most dangerous finishers in the T20 format. Of course, the OG big-hitter cannot be ignored either. It was Russell's four sixes, including three in one over, that brought the equation down to something David could manage.
A superb game, innit? It appeared to be a one-sided affair when Guyana Amazon Warriors were 76/7 in the first innings. Then Romario Shepherd's stunning half-century evened things up. When Amazon Warriors started strongly with the ball and reduced TKR to 89/5, it appeared the home crowd would be silenced, however the home side have invested in some amazing middle and lower-order batters, and that came to the fore when the stakes got high. Especially pleasing for Dwayne Bravo, who had a farewell-of-sorts today,

Why not say the better team won today....so simple...
This was one of the most anticipated fixtures of the CPL 2024 league stage, and boy, it did not disappoint. Twists and turns aplenty, just have a look at ESPNcricinfo's forecaster, swinging from one side to another through the evening. Presentation shortly.
Andre Russell is the Player of the Match for his 15-ball 36*: (only his second game but in good nick) Feels good to be back in the middle. Been struggling with an ankle injury and these guys have been doing an amazing job getting me back on the park. When you work hard, you get results. The mindset was that I know I can hit sixes and that Tim David is a six-hitter as well. Told him that we had 24 balls and we had to hit eight sixes."(Bravo's contribution) Think me being who I am today, has a lot to do with him. I used to wicketkeep, bowl and bat at 11, 10. Saw him bat for West Indies in Tests, fielding and diving, I am just happy to be part of this game. That's why it was emotional celebration, he deserved that win tonight. He helped me how to outthink the batter, be a smart bowler."
Harsh S.: "Pooran, Pollard, David, Russell, the finest big hitting quartet in franchise cricket right now."
....Think he'll shed a tear tonight. This one is for DJ Bravo."
DJ Bravo: "Yeah, very emotional. I said to Bish earlier, the boys were giving me a hard time that I'd cry today. I said no, I'm a big boy, but if the ceremony went on for five more seconds, I might've (cried)." Lot of good memories over the years... Daren Bravo's last-ball six was special. We have a lot of good memories. This is one of our favourite grounds, playing for our fans right on top of us. (Tribute) It was discussed and the captain had to officially OK it or it wasn't going to be possible. He'd have to be a real wicked man to say no, no? It was a great send off. Had two of my kids here, and my son watched a game for me first time."
Winning captain Kieron Pollard: IT was a special game. One of our local icons and heroes.... we got to wear 47 and thank him (Bravo) for what he has done for Trinidad cricket and West Indies cricket. Tonight is special, getting the win for him is special. He's my best friend. We share it on and off the field. I am the Godfather to his kinds, he is the Godfather to my kids. As an allrounder, he has shown us what we can do as allrounders. The pitch wasn't conducive to strokeplay. The game was played in thirds. The powerplay was decent for both teams. We both lost wickets in the middle overs. And then we both did well in the back end. We need to see that before tomorrow's game. Iconic venue, you see a sea of red from 5 o clock in the afternoon. By the time toss happened and we took the field, it was a fantastic atmosphere."
Losing captain Shai Hope: I don't like to pinpoint the toss, but always good to chase here. We set ourselves a few runs short with the bat but commendable to take the game to the last over. (Shepherd's batting) When he's striking it well, he's tough to stop. Without his innings, we'd have been way too short. He's been out for a few games, hopefully he can bowl next time. (Bowling effort) We really fought well. Just crucial moments of the game. Don't want to pinpoint fielding and bowling effort. We had a missed chance but that's cricket. We need to fight like this. This is always a big, big, big match, always a great game coming to play here."
