New York: Another Black Mayor Going Down

If Democrats lose the House, you can blame it on incompetent New York State politicians and the sleaze and corruption among city politicians and officials, including Mayor Adams.
Eric Adams, a retired police captain who was elected as New York City’s 110th mayor nearly three years ago on a promise to rein in crime, has been indicted in a federal corruption investigation, people with knowledge of the matter said.
The indictment remained sealed on Wednesday night, and it was unclear what charge or charges Mr. Adams will face. But the federal investigation has focused at least in part on whether Mr. Adams and his campaign conspired with the Turkish government to receive illegal foreign donations.
When the indictment is made public, Mr. Adams, a Democrat, will become the first New York City mayor to face a federal charge while in office. It was not clear when he will surrender to the authorities. Federal prosecutors were expected to announce more details on Thursday.

You may have wondered why Trump was campaigning in New York, last week. It's because because Republicans smell blood in Dems waters. Democrats are bleeding in Long Island, which will go Republican, Jews are mad with how the Gov. Hochul handled the pro-Hamas protests at NY universities, and now corruption raises its ugly head in the city politics.
Nancy Pelosi, the real power in the Democratic Party was never impressed with Gov Hochul, and never forgave her for how she contributed to Dems losing 5 House seats in New York State, costing them he House majority in 2022.
With the Senate like going Republican, if Jon Tester loses in Montana, the last thing a Harris Presidency would want is a House also in Republican hands. And God forbid, Presidency, Senate and House all Republican. That would be the end of America as we know it.
These are perilous times. Last night's news in New York are not helpful to the Dems brand.

Could AOC be gunning for the job as New York City mayor.?
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York on Wednesday said Eric Adams should resign as mayor of New York City, becoming the most prominent Democrat to push for his ouster amid federal corruption investigations involving his administration.
In a statement to The New York Times, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, a national leader of her party’s progressive wing, said she could “not see how Mayor Adams can continue governing New York City.”
“The flood of resignations and vacancies are threatening government function,” she said. “Nonstop investigations will make it impossible to recruit and retain a qualified administration.”
“For the good of the city,” she added, “he should resign.”

Being a resident of NYC for more than four decades I feel the city is at its most chaotic. Quality of life has definitely gotten worse. Adams administration seems to be all friends and family.
His priorities are all about providing housing for low income people and the migrants. While hard working people are subjected to speed bumps and traffic cameras on every conceivable street to generate revenue. Meanwhile, there seems to be no enforcement of traffic violations. Reckless driving is the norm.

In all honesty, it seems as if this is a common trend of the Democratic run cities: NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philly, Columbus Ohio, Indianapolis, Detroit, Baltimore, Atlanta, Oakland, New Orleans

Did Eric Adams change political party? I thought the judicial system was only being weaponized against Republicans.

Interesting to see New Yorkers complaining. I was under the impression that living in New York must surely be living the dream.
After all, New York is in many TV shows and movies. Not to exclude the scantily dressed women who are hanging around the street corners.
It’s always exciting when someone is trying to get their hand in your pocket every 30 seconds.
Oh, and then there is Donald Trump. No more needs to be said about him.
Dropping the ball every New Year must be symbolic of what’s happening to the city.

That is a weird comment .... I was waiting to hear what the working class was enduring while the disadvantaged were being helped, as you put it.....traffic cameras? Speed bumps? That is the issue you want taken care off over those who are disadvantaged? And low income families don't drive too?
Then after claiming disgust over traffic control measures, you claim that traffic laws are not enforced.....
Lawdy. Weird stuff.

California will return the house to the Dems especially if NY as it will holds on to what it has and picks off just 1 or 2 more lost in '24 Adam's stole the Mayorship from Mya Willey In the same manner Trump stole Hilary's presidency...with foreign help.
Many Dem cities are impacted in part by movement of people from red states who come for better weather and public benefits while jobless

I lived real briefly in Brookyn....my first child was born there. Not sure what that has to do with it.
E en so, all cities and even backwater towns deal with opportunist who game the system. Am sure the measures being put in place are not meant for those people.
Still the things you choose to mention in contrast to a necessary part of any city's responsibility, leaves me baffled.

Bro, it is probably time you start taking memory supplement, you don't remember the South Bronx, East New York and Atlantic Ave, Harlem? Look at the current building boom in the city, most young people have to come to new jersey to find a place!

Not true, the undocumented were foisted on NY by Texas' Gov. A well thinking Gov would've pressured the Fed Govt for funds win and everyone would've looked better but he wants that as his clutch as if deplorable will ever vote a man in a wheelchair to the presidency
