Trini had a head start from us because they had oil before us and they were rich.
Hoss your ignorance astounding yuh know. The first country to start exporting oil was Venezuela in the late 1940s. Trinidad did not seriously benefit from oil until the early 1970s during the Yom Kippur embargo by opec which pushed the price of oil into uncharted highs. That tapered off in the 1980s and we started to monetize and export natural gas, which previously wasn’t a well exported commodity, exemplified that a price index for Natural gas prices, Henry Hubb only started in 1997 or 1998, which was a full four years after we monetized the gas fields. Yes we waste plenty money, plenty was stolen as well, but Trinidadians enjoy a standard of living which far exceeds what most people have in the hemisphere. Anybody who starved in TT wanted to starve because they’re damn lazy.
Guyana on the other hand is the most resource rich country in the region and was tottering on failed statehood for the vast majority of their post independence history. Up to 2017, they was paying Venezuela with rice for the oil they got through Petro Caribe, because they didn’t have enough money in the state coffers. If you want an example of how not to run a state, Guyana is your textbook
Mind you I like Guyanese, especially the Portuguese women, it’s just ignorant, tribal morons like this poster irritate me
