Andre Russell lashes out after TKR's loss in CPL

Jumpstart 2024-10-02 13:46:47

Russell's frustration was evident, as the abrupt conclusion denied TKR a fair chance to defend a competitive total they had built through Nicholas Pooran's outstanding 91* and strong contributions from Jason Roy and Andre Russell himself. For Russell and TKR, this loss in such unusual circumstances felt like an opportunity lost, leaving them with a sense of unfinished business in the CPL 2024 campaign.

farcical

Agreed! Heads need to roll for this! I don't have a horse in the race but for the spirit of cricket we needed to see a full game. Have a reserve day or something!

shit happens...they have power outages at other major events as well...the game got finished according to the rules

Jumpstart 2024-10-02 14:25:38

In reply to ray

hoss a two hour poweer outage in half the facility, that had a similar problem the day before and two weeks prior is incompetence and slackness, not time and unforeseen occurrences. that has never happened in an important game in TT or any of the other cpl territories as yet in the 11 year history of the tournament

I don't disagree about incompetence...TKR lost, move on...

the President, as head of the state, and as chief promoter of the event (he was there last night to witness it) must issue a sincere apology

and put all things in place to prevent a repeat of this madness

Speed100 2024-10-02 14:43:26

Russell is a cry baby!!

Sour loser.
He complain and runaway like a coward from pressure at tallawahs. Where are these punks voices when in the IPl and any other league.

He should take out that nose ring and start man up.

imusic 2024-10-02 14:49:09

Take your own advice, man up, and say that to Russel’s face

GPL needs a total overhaul. A bunch of incompetent people there.
You were at the game.

Maispwi 2024-10-02 15:48:01

The funny thing about this is dat TKR and their supporters wud have happily accepted the results if the power had not returned and wud not have been expressing outrage at the unfairness of it all

Jumpstart 2024-10-02 15:50:15

In reply to Maispwi

that is irrelevant homes. fact is something occurred that just betrayed an amateur approach to sports event hosting. the busted wire should have gotten MoM

STFU Doosra.

Guyana prez was there to watch cricket. The lights went out - big deal!
If this was being played in AUS NZ UK SAF IND or elsewhere could there have been a different outcome??

CPL is the governing body. The lights were back on and the decision was for BR to score 60 runs in five overs.
--Were the TKR bowlers asleep??
--They had a long break and Narine was delighted [he rarely shows emotion]
TKR team was buoyed by de Kock's wicket.
--Where was Pollard in all of those 4.2 overs that saw Barbados Royals score 64 runs????
--FOUR runs beyond the 60 called for and with FOUR balls to spare
-- 64 runs in 26 balls!!!!!!!!!!!

Disappointment comes with any sport. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion BUT how does the head of a country become responsible for big men crying when they had TOTAL control over 30 balls with ELEVEN capable players on the pitch??? Obviously they did not want to win or ..........they simply could NOT win...

What has Russell done for TKR this season

I don't know why he is thinking about unretiring for WI

Yes, what netgrouchy said.

geez, talk about overreacting to a loss

you sound like battylion

this was a known issue
there were at least 2 occassions before that the lights went out recently and they did not troubleshoot to find that problem

save your anger for your people dude

powen001 2024-10-02 16:16:24

I confess that when the lights went out I said...well...TKR done win this ...whatever we are set they will defend...

DeKocks wicket...

I went and watch Bad Monkey...

woke up this morning and heard we won on DL...

While I understand the disappointment for TKR...it could have been the other way around too.

to destroy property n blame ministers for faulty lights is just emotional venting with precious little substance outside o the cussing and finger pointing.

Powen a two hour delay due to faulty light towers in a knockout game is totally unacceptable. punto finale. you does even see these things taking place in bangladesh, probably the most Vy-kee-vy( trini slang for disorganized, chaotic) cricket territory in the world

StumpCam 2024-10-02 16:24:01

Russell needed to lash more balls! Dais all!razz

It's a pity you are not the one making the final decision. They have umpires, match referees, the rules and the CPL organizers who all agreed that the right decision was made and that was punto finale!!

You are just a sour loser . You can’t just call or accuse people without any proof.

Maybe you are complainer or incompetent person who love to blame other when you don’t get things your way..

Just chill man . I 100% agree it was unfair scenario for TKR . But don’t be call people names, or throwing around wild accusations

Lol... Jaggy is that you? lol

Like somebody hurt yuh feeling... the reason the President gets the blame is because this is not the first time this happened in the last 2 months or so.

- first time it was at the T10 tapeball final... same two towers, it never came on back.
- second was during a GAW practice session prior to the start of CPL.
- then last night.

So yeah you could twist ut and turn it all you want this issue should have been sorted long now.. people need to be held accountable!

the matter is not that the lights went out. its that they went out for two hours man, which caused the match to shed overs. hoss the whole idea of a team losing overs due to a techbical malfunction is as absurd as it is preposterous. BL Academy lost power once during a game, and that was resolved in five minutes . i was there

It was not a click of the finger issue. It was a Ground fault circuit interruption. The electrician had to pull a new ground circuit. As power plant Electrician myself I know and understand what the task and prey the guys were under. So we should’ve give credit instead. And again I believe the DLS system is bull. The scenario was against TKR.

dls is ridiculous. we hadda hope for it to go against india in a knockout so that the bcci with finally get rid of it.

Andre russel is a complain freak, i remember when guyana play jamaica in florida.

He was complaining that most of the fans were guyanese because many guyanese live in florida.

There have many jamaicans living in florida too, what's stoping them from going to the match.
