Kyle Mayers appointed captain of Barbados Super 50 squad
Finally, no Braffit.
Why Reifer ahead of Akeen Jordan?
Bim won't learn!!

Doesn't look strong, even on paper..... nothing exciting...... only looking to see, how Wick & Nyeem develop ....

developmental Squad, it is evident that winning the trophy is not a priority, here is hoping that Wickham and Young aside, a a few others can emerge
first step towards Mayers taking over Rovman's place in the WI T20 squad. As I posted, that is the only spot in that squad that is up for grabs.
Would have liked to see Nimar Bolden in this team. I hope he is selected by CCC so he can get some experience at this level.
Or maybe one of the other teams because he is a youngster who is coming fast. Seems to have finally tamed his aggressiveness.
Saw him in the 5o over finals scoring 171 no

Then comeback this past weekend and get 119 in the in the Elite division.
Just turned 21 and looks to be harnessing his talent. We have to expose and challenge these youngsters and not keep on recycling
Ramon Reifer.
In reply to hawk
I am surprised Nimar Bolden was not selected and is not part of the reserve.
This series was the perfect time to exclude Reifer and Warrican from this format.

Surely Bolden will get a CCC pick
Like the look of this young man

Worrying that we dont seem to be developing new fast bowlers. Chemar and Drakes will struggle based on recent form.
In reply to Logic
In a couple of matches, Chemar played during the trials, he did quite well, his selection is an investment.
Do you know the Pride contracted players, this will help in understanding the selection policy.

Bolden's Non-selection IMO confirms he will turn out for CCC, It is hard to ignore the runs he has garnered in the trial matches. it is an exciting time for a non-exciting team
Golden and Depeiza are two that should be added to CCC. Both WI under 19 players now 21 and maturing week by week
In reply to seaegg99
Both got runs yesterday… Depeiza a ton (his first) & Bolden 90…. This is the way to do it.. keep scoring runs.

Happy for Kyle. He earned it. I want him to do well and the Bim squad looks good with the emphasis on youth.
Just hope the batting can stand up because I see a lot of allrounders and only a few solid batsmen. Glad the youngsters are getting the experience though.
Let Nimar and Giovante continue to develop before moving to the national team, the guy who is think should be add to the team is Hakeem Perryman. He is a reserved.
Nimar's run out at 90 actually would have been his third century in a row. When was the last time a young batsman in Bim did that.
Think now is the time to challenge the youths. This wait, wait thing have allowed too many to fall through the cracks to other endeavors (England).
Especially when others are less deserving yet continue to be selected. The youths are in form now, why waste time. They would have made other regional
teams if they performed in their local competitions.
Bolden just missed his third consecutive century getting run out on 90
Bajans why is Parris not in this squad?
Somebody in Bim really don't like Joshua Bishop..
In reply to anthonyp
Isn't Bishop part of the Academy setup? Barbados maximizes the number of players it can expose each year by spreading them over 3 teams

I listened to the Mason show yesterday, and I agree with the fans who called in.
Depeiza is the player whose play has been consistent, Bolden's best year is now, and fans were talking about players with an average of 20 being selected.
One caller said every youngster playing has talent, and that's no reason to select a player who averages 20.
Bolden have started to turn 40s and 50s into centuries. He just turned 21 the day he scored 171 in a 50 finals, comeback the next week and made 119 and 90 run out the next. The youth is maturing and looking for runs. Something that seems to be lost on our senior players. Bolden have been scoring runs from his secondary school days and captained Bim's youth teams on different levels.

He has not been scoring runs, young Boucher who plays for Carlton scored a double century last season had numerous good scores.
His production this year is below par.
Bolden caught most fans attention this year, by scoring runs.
All players playing in the Elite division, their yearly batting and bowling stats are available on the BCA Website
My take:
Out Raymond Reifer………In Akeem Jordan
Out Dominic Drakes ………In Keon Harding
Out Demetrius Richards…. In Tevyn Walcott
Out Jomel Warrican….……..In Nathan Sealy

Because history has shown us they will need time to develop to advance to the next level. Our FC should be for stars and young emerging players. The old never will play for the West Indies again, should make way. Exceptions of course.
In reply to openning/Seeegg
Let Bolden developed, he failed at regional u19, he needs to produce and if select for CCC ,this maybe the best place for his development.

Cricket in Barbados is still an Amateur sport, where you have to be in good standing with a club in order to play.
If you are working a 9-5 job, getting to practice after 4 pm, batting for fifteen minutes and bowling with balls, some that should be discarded, how are you going to develop players?
You should speak to a youngster in England, India or Australia to understand what it takes to develop a cricketer in 2024.
USA and Canada players are playing more cricket around the world than any of our youngsters.
