This season of the WNBA was/is captivating. I watched a couple of games over the years but I really got back into the basketball last year when Caitlin Clark was heating it up.. IOWA's Final 4 victory over South Carolina last year and the finals against LSU.
Then the whole 2023/2024 season following IOWA and Caitlin Clark was magical. Those last minute victories and recording breaking plays were awesome. I watched all of IOWA's NCAA tournament games. The rematch against LSU, the Final 4 against UConn with Paige and the superlative 18pt 1st Quarter of the Final this year against USC was amazing.
I think I almost love Caitlin Clark as much as Rafael Nadal... unbelievable. I consumed soo much CC content the last year. Geno's take on how CC will fare in the WNBA didn't age well at all. The flagrant fouls, non calls, DRAMA of this season. All so equally entertaining and frustrating. This WNBA season has been such a roller coaster emotionally for me...but wow.
The finals between Liberty and Lynx have been going soo good as well. Women's sports have more misses, its slower and less athletic.. but this 2024 season in the WNBA had be captivated as a fan as much as the 2008 Tennis season with Nadal chasing Federer and him winning his first Wimbledon and then getting a gold medal.
Even now I can watch the hour long highlights of CC's plays and rewatch all the Indiana Fever games. I own no signature sport shoes or jerseys, not even a West Indies cricket jersey... but I definitely want a CC22 jersey and her shoe when it comes out.

What has Caitlin Clark actually won?
In reply to BenGman
why do NY keep allowing 17 to 2 type runs to opposition all the time
In reply to BenGman
If I were a fan of her like you are I would definitely want a piece of her, but a shoe or a jersey??? Nahhhh!

I had never watched one single game of the wnba until this season wanted to see what all the hype was about with caitly clarke and the other girl.she is talented but she is a straight catholic girl in a league that is 90% lesbian and i mean stud lesbian they look like they on steroids i fear for her safety
In reply to velo
Clark looks more of a lesbian than many of the actual lesbians, such as Dijonai Carrington.
Clark looks like Screech from Save By The Bell.
And where did you get that 90% figure? Been reading Klan posts on the WNBA per chance?

Bro unlike you i dont have problems that she is white talent is talent .
So what if there are Lesbians playing? Some of you need to grow up
In reply to ray
nobody said anything was wrong with lesbians playing

I remember when “they” used to say Serena Williams looked “stud” and on steroids. She retired rich, and getting richer, with a wonderful family.
People must learn to get over their misogyny, especially against talented, skilled and successful women.
As for Caitlin Clarke, she’s an excellent and exciting player to watch, but not much more so than other great players in the WNBA.
Sadly it took all the hype around her to increase viewership of a league dominated primarily by black players. More sadly, viewership dropped off after her team was eliminated.

I am a WNBA fan, again. I watched the first few seasons with Cynthia Cooper. I knew Candice Parker, Maya Moore, Britney Griner, Breanna Stewart because I followed them when they played in college. I didn't know A'ja Wilson nor Kelsey Plum (although I am sure I watched last year's WNBA final... those 'new' names didn't stick before this year). Now some WNBA teams I can name their starting lineup and the others I can name at least 3 players on all the teams. I definetly would not be able to do that if it wasn't for Caitlin Clark.
I watched all the Fever games this year.. what I didn't watch live I watched the replay on League Pass... a first for me. I never even paid nor watched Netflix in my life (I download shows on torrents though), but I actually PAID for WNBA League Pass!

B1G 10 Championships. 3 golds for USA youth titles and at least one with her Attack team during her High School years....known without searching. I follow CC for her style of play.
I love Anthony Edwards and watched some of his college games in Georgia... but what has he won? I have no idea without searching. I am fans of many NBA players and they never won College nor NBA Championships.

I ordered her Wilson basketballs twice, but they refunded the money twice. I think they don't like the T&T credit card or the skybox address.

A popular YT poster (Ben Daniel) dislikes the WNBA because of missed shots and ineffeciency and he doesn't like the fact that the WNBA performances are 'graded on a curve'.. but the truth is the women's sports are many times less efficient, but thats ok. Its not really that you lower expectations, its just that it is different from men's sports and you grow to love women's sports for what it is. But the finals have been enjoyable. I want NY to win. I hope to watch Friday's game on replay.. .but I saw the NY lost a close one.

Many people didn't want to watch the WNBA because they didn't like the 'look' of the players, and thats why many new viewers gravitated towards Clarke as well. Many of the new fans also did not like the 'hazing' that CC got, non calls by the officials with bad fouls against CC, and mostly all the negative talk against the CC fans. If all that didn't happen then even more fans would have stuck around to watch the rest of the playoffs.
I for sure would say that without CC, I probably would have watched 1 or 2 games for the entire WNBA season.
At the beginning of the season I was actually excited to watch some players I have not seen play before... I like Allysa Thomas, A'ja, and some others...but then that lynching she gave Angel Reese and her attitude after. The attitude on and off the court of a lot of players turned me off from following them... responses in interviews/press conferences/social media, etc.... so it became more than basketball for me. So far CC has said the 'right' things... and that makes me even more of her fan. I like her response to her liking Taylor Swift's tweet too.

Many new fans of the WNBA gravitated to CC this year like the MAGA cultists have been to Trump, except that she’s far superior at what she does than DJT.
What a glorious stinker of a game 5. But wow it was tense in the end. This was of my most enjoyable seasons as a sports fan.

NY was tight...missed plenty shots, could easily have been a blow out
