All I am saying is that they all started slowly. Let us gauge the youth after 20.

Hope he comes good even though I really didnt see anything special. For example there was a youngster, Parris, that played in the CPL recently who had some really easy on the eye shots. Almost like that guy from Barbados

Ha Ha Ha ! Well Lara was quoted as saying he is the best of the young batters? Does that not count for something?

Some may have forgotten that Allick lead the aggregates at the 2018 U-19 WCup ahead of Shubman Gill.

Best forgotten when one looks at his body of work since. I have time for Allick but he is lacking some mental toughness to go through periods like this and come out on top. All the greats go through slumps but on Allick's international record, we cannot say he is in a slump as he has never excelled. I agree with the other poster that Parris looked good a couple times in CPL and he is one that I would like to see develop.

A lot of them look the part . I saw Parris my only concern was that he looked suspect on the back foot but he is one we should identify and mold.

Too young and too much class to give up on Allick. He will come good.

Athanaze cannot be compared to Lara and Sarwan. Should not even be used in the same sentence as them

Walsh is being perenially underbowled in FC cricket. How can a spinner develop to reach even close to international standard when his regional captain has no faith in him??

PalsofMine 2024-10-24 17:25:03

All this thread really says is that Lara at his worst is on par with our current batsmen big grin

Captains are just afraid to bowl him he can probably bowl 2 good overs from 10, and one goodish over in 4,he is lucky to be still getting picked on any WI team.

But the question then remains, why pick him? Specialist fieldsman? The only way he can improve is by getting many more overs in. I do not like to see Cornwall just taking the lion share of overs in every match played by Leewards and not giving other bowlers an opportunity. there must be a middle ground between wanting to win and wanting the team to develop. That is why I back Windwards over Leewards as Windwards seem to exude a team spirit
