Yes he did. An excellent job. I was skeptical about gambhir from the start. Too much ego and way too divisive. The bowling is still up to mark but the batting has collapsed. Three collapses in four innings is alarming

After the thrashing in Lanka...change in NZ cappo has made a big difference here in india...and he is leading from he front...and without Williamson to boot
On the other hand...cappo Rohit is failing miserably...and sidekick Kohli is also failing

Absolutely!!!

Ravi, is an old school Indian, a good guy, fiercely independent, he puts India first and they couldn't get him to embrace Hindutva, The ruling haters could not control him.

Ravi wasn’t on that division foolishness at all. He was a great motivator as well. After India got cleaned up for 36 in the first test of the Border Gavaskar trophy in 2022, and rohit got injured, Kohli’s wife was giving birth to their second child and Shami got injured, shastri rallied his team to beat Australia in the second test, eek out a draw in the third and win the fourth.

Yep, word is the team cannot stomach the current coach who was placed there for political purposes.

Several confounding factors, potentially

1. batting side at its peak then (aging now)
2. more complete fast bowling group, younger fast bowlers

Gambhir is tense and that may or may not be a factor in how people respond but he had success at KKR so time will tell

the Australia series will be big but surely it is a side which has started to transition

what i am saying is that i don't think it is a straightforward comparison

Gambhir and Kohli has been warring for years...,could be affecting the chemistry of this team

yea both 'passionate' characters...but Kohli has pride and I am sure he will at least sort whatever he can about himself....

Gambhir is probably too in your face for this generation of Indian cricketers who are secured in many ways...
