Why doesn't the west indies center their entire fc/list a season around where we are going to visit. it might not work for an english visit because the biggest variable is atmospheric, but everywhere else it can work. So we have to go to Bangladesh and Pakistan this winter, prepare raging turners similar to what we'll encounter in those countries. We have to visit SA or Australia, prepare hard bouncy wickets to simulate what we'll face there. that can't be that difficult, and you chose your squad partially from the best performers on those wickets. we have at least 2-3 world class pacemen now and we also have hosein and mootie so you know that you will be getting a good gauge of where the players are at

An idea: prepare wickets similar to foreign pitches
In reply to Jumpstart
Not a bad idea but I suppose if we could have done so, we would have already. It will be great if we can go back to the days when there were different pitches throughout the region that really tested batsmen rather than all being slow and low as now exist. I dont understand why more cricket is not played at Sammy in St Lucia or QP in Grenada which are surfaces which are different from others in the region.

You have to bring in foreigners to prepare these wickets
local curators [groundsmen] never know what type of wicket they prepare...always guesswork

yeah.....well then pay some dudes. CWI can't be that broke. yuh really only need one man. and for turning wickets, yuh doh even need foreigners, just play the games in TT and Guyana and that is a good simulation. we need to stop castigating a pitch because many people can't make runs on it

There was one man from St Lucia who was supposed to be the pitch master. His job was to travel the region to the other territories grounds and teach groundsmen how to prepare proper wickets.
Either he has failed spectacularly or the initiative never got off the ground.
