Very few excited me as this man when he 1st burst unto the scene as a 17 year old schoolboy leggie ….running rings around the likes of Clive Lloyd…perhaps his most exciting characteristic was his bold and aggressive left handed batting..pity for him that he had to compete against Roger Harper who had the good fortune of having Clive Lloyd in his corner….
My most memorable experience was watching Haynes in a Geddes Grant limited overs match against Barbados with the likes of Greenidge, Haynes, Marshall and Garner…it was a low scoring affair but Haynes made a brilliant 80 odd and almost carried Jamaica to victory . Bim limped across the line due to a plethora of missed chances by the unfortunate Kenrick Dennis (RIP).
Its hard to believe that Haynes will be 60 in a mere 3 days…my word it makes me feel old…..
