What to expect:
There is a 50% chance of rain with scattered thunderstorms expected around start time. Historically, the ground has not been that high-scoring as was witnessed in the first ODI as well and that trend is expected to continue.

Shai Hope:
We need to adapt, it's a different surface, need to asses conditions quickly. Alzarri is out, precautionary measure. Shamar Joseph is in. They're young, exciting. Need to hone that skill, we've got an opportunity, need to grasp it. We can't really look too far ahead, need to focus on what's ahead of us. Thought we were a lot more disciplined with our lines and lengths, something we'd been stressing for a long time, good to see us getting consistent with that.

England win the toss and will bowl
Narper
2024-11-02 13:06:37
Liam Livingstone:
We're going to bowl. Hopefully there's a bit of moisture in the pitch. Hopefully pretty similar to the other day, Jofra and JT bowled well, hopefully there will be some spin through the middle. It's an individual thing, everyone needs to figure out what works for them. Saqib Mahmood is in for Jamie Overton.

Pitch report:
"We have had some rain around overnight. So far it's clear. 63m square boundaries and 73m down the ground. There's a little bit more moisture, could hamper the team batting first. Fast bowlers should hit the 6-8m length. Very important for the fast bowlers to be disciplined and for the spinners to control their pace" suggest Carlos Brathwaite and Nikhil Uttamchandani.

John Turner to Brandon King, out Caught by Jordan Cox!! In the air and taken! That's John Turner's maiden wicket in international cricket and he's absolutely delighted. Pitched up full outside off, drew him into a drive, he pushed at it hard quite far away from his body and it skewed off the outside edge. Went quickly and low to Cox's left at backward point and he held on to a nice catch after leaping across. England don't have to wait long for their first breakthrough.

John Turner to Lewis, out Caught by Philip Salt!! Edged and gone! John Turner doesn't have to wait long for his second wicket! Back of a length and going down leg from round the wicket, Lewis looked to pull and just got strangled down leg, got a little tickle of glove on it and Salt did the rest. Soft-dismissal and the West Indies are two down quite early. Just the kind of start England were after having elected to bowl first.

BOWLED BY RASHID
30.2
Adil Rashid to Keacy Carty, out Bowled!! There's the breakthrough! Keacy Carty is completely outdone by Adil Rashid here. Carty struggled to read Rashid all along and now it leads to his downfall. Was tossed up full on off-stump, a googly, Keacy Carty leant in looking to work it into the leg-side, he got a thick inside edge onto the pads and it went straight back on to the stumps. Crucial wicket this for England as the West Indies were just starting to get away with proceedings. 143-run stand is put to an end.

Temper, temper, Livingston....
You seem to have forgotten that the batsman has the right to pull away if he's not ready. The spinner doesn't have the automatic right to rush the batsman.

Shamar Joseph to Jordan Cox, out Caught by Shai Hope!! Top edge and gone! The struggle ends for Shamar Jordan Cox. Cox was properly rushed by this short delivery, he couldn't get out of the line and played a half-hearted pull, top edge off the helmet and lobbing to the left of Hope for a simple catch. Shamar Joseph was impressive since arrival and he's got a deserving wicket.

It looked so different with 10 overs to go when England needed 100 exactly.
Livingstone was on 46 from 57 then and looked at where he has ended as he accelerated rapidly and went on a six-hitting spree that left West Indies crushed.

Looking at the stats. Two captains leading from in front but on had 26 dot balls the other had 61 dot balls. This match is the perfect example of WI woes in ODI. Even when we bat well, our bowling is generally so poor that they cannot defend any total. Remember Netherlands in the WC qualifiers?? And forget Aljo. He would not have made a difference. Seales was really good in the first match, 8 overs 1 maiden, 2 wickets at 2.75 economy. I think Seales and A. Joseph need to learn how to bowl a consistent tight line. Stop pitching the ball up and bowling wide deliveries for quality batters to hit out of the park.

Liam Livingstone | Player of the Match and England captain:
Certain things I have done in practice and at the end of the season in England felt like I have been getting back to my best. Maturing and I'm enjoying my cricket and if I'm enjoying my cricket, I play well. Pretty proud day. Try and take some risks early on, the wind was pretty strong to that side. Target the death overs and that's what me and Sammy were trying and it worked out perfectly. He played beautifully, I have batted a lot and played a lot of cricket with Sammy, he hit the second ball he faced which was a no-ball for six and did not look back. I trusted him. We needed somebody in our top 6 to help us get a big score, Salty batted beautifully, he put the pressure on them. We took wickets throughout, we were sloppy on the field but our bowlers did well. Looking forward to Barbados. We have got a lot of young boys still learning the ropes in international cricket, will do them a world of good, rest up and try to win the series

Shai Hope | West Indies captain:
Personally I thought it was a decent score, the outfield was heavy, the surface was up and down, but it was not enough. [on his 100] It's irrelevant, if it does not contribute to wins it does not matter. We need to be more disciplined, first game we showed that, we were a bit off today, we did not execute our plans well. We had clear plans but we did not execute them well today. We gave them a lot of easy options to score and when you play international cricket, the guys will capitalise and that's what happened. The guys played really well, Keacy played really well, he has put a lot of work behind the scenes, Rutherford has got four 50s in a row now and Hettie with a nice cameo. Happy with the batters

I am not going to argue whether or not he would have made a difference in this game but based on his record at Kensington, Aljo must play there.
Although this may be the most sensible post you made concerning Aljo,
He is still crap.
That said: with this squad, he must come in for Seales.
Please tell ya bot Scammy to send Seales home and do not pick him again for white ball until he starts performing for TnT.
Test yes, white ball a big 'HELL NO'.
He ain't ready for White ball yet.

Antigua cricket pitches known for conducive batting ‘runs’… And not bowlers friendly.. 650+ runs scored and could have been easily 700+…
