I onli responded to a post on this MB.

While you do not believe it, I believe the report is 61 in total.

Contrary to popular opinion here,
Salt is not Bajan.

I do not care for him.

I wanted Bethel to core a century today,
Archer to get a 50 plus a 5-fa.

Yet Hingland to get a cut ass.

Hard to work those wishes in one game, but....

Thank God your reply was eaten ‘cause the 1st post clearly shows a misunderstanding of L/O game. Anchor has the mantle of both batting deep and scoring at high S/R. Eating up balls force risk from others. Cherry-picking Hetty’s innings to say what innings would be is unrealistic. Perhaps in a different type of Hope innings Hetty wouldn’t even have faced that ball

I keep hearing reports that the pitch improves for batting over the game so that the chasing teams always have the advantage. Perhaps Hope was a victim of this and merely that he played on a pitch that was harder to bat on than Livingstone did. if the pitches are really playing like this, something needs to be done about them as the toss should not decide the outcome of a match so easily.

Looking forward to the Bangla series anyway

I totally agreed with you on this point with regard to Hope and Carty having to bat at the most difficult session on the pitch, just like England yesterday. In past days the Oval usually play very quick on the first 2 hours of a test match and as the day progress it evens out. Maybe the same effect on a day/night game.

Amazing how people make excuses for Hope poor batting strike rates.

That has been one of his major negatives forever.

Even with his steady improvements,
overall his rate is still in the 70's.

With the current state of ODI,
A strike rate for a tops order batsman the 70's if extremely poor.
One would only forgive a newbie getting his feet in the door.
Not an 8 years vet who is considered 'GREAT'.

Stop making excuses, Hope and Carty were poor.
After recovering from a poor start, they batted 17 overs before a break,
where after they strike rate dropped.

Against some very ordinary bowlers.

Stop making excuses.
They costs Windies the game.

Batsmen cannot aste dot balls and catch up later.
That's statement about catching up is a misnomer.
Balls loss and wasted are gone.
Can never be added.
61 dots balls in an ODI century on that wicket is very poor.
