I wouldn't have included Carty or King ( based on recent form) in the best XI before this series, and actually thought we should have played an extra bowler (Joseph) in this game rather than have Carty in the XI.
Has this knock made him a certainty in the XI?
The sure picks....

Rutherford
Hetmyer

I'm amazed that you felt a drop was warranted after a 19* and a 70 score.
Anyhow, he now averages 40 after 20 plus games. His spot in any Xl is definitely cemented until further notice.

Its going to be interesting going forward against stronger teams the wi are only playing 4 specialists bowlers and chase .if one gets injured or going for runs their is not much to turn to

Playing Chase as a 5th bowler could only work in this series, going forward, we are fortunate that two of our best batsmen are wicketkeepers, so we can play 6 batsmen and 5 proper bowlers, and we are lucky that a few of our best bowlers in the format are all rounders who can contribute at 7/8.
Chase definitely does not meet that requirement. Shepherd is better suited for that 5th bowler role than Chase

Victory always bring euphoria....but this England side was severely understrength and with only five bowling options....looked unbalanced.... Rutherford was clobbered for 50+ runs in 4 overs.....
Going forward, We have to add at least one all-rounder...
Now, Greaves is there...but replace whom...
King,Hope both strike rates in 70..
Hope is cappo, king is hanging by thread....
Carty
Lewis
Hety
Hope
Pooran
Rutherford
All these cannot bowl... Rutherford learning to bowl...
Chase
Greaves
Holder
Two of the above three must be included..in top 6..

Those were his scores before the series? Either way, he would have been surplus to requirements if Pooran was available.
Evin and Chase would have completed my top 6 and then 5 bowlers

JHo might be past his prime, I can't see him being a sure pick again tbh, he has to fight Forde and Shepherd for a spot

You didn’t hear RTN insist in the post match analysis with Alex Jordan and Bish that Matthew Forde is the loike for loike replacement for Jason Holder?
After hearing RTN’s comments, one would swear Forde already challenging the likes of Ben Stokes, Jadeja, and Nabi for best allrounder

I agree. JHo is not an automatic choice for any form of White Ball cricket. I also think that Chase adds more to the team than Shepherd as the first or second allrounder. Ideally, I would like to see and ODI team with 5 specialist batters including Hope or Pooran as keeper; 2 all-rounders; 2 wicket taking seamers and 2 spinners (left and right/leg spin)

Chase is a 6th bowler, and if he plays should play in the top 6.
Shepherd may be one of our best 5 ODI bowlers, and should bat 7-9, They shouldn't be competing for the same spot

Although, you would be aghast...
.Holder should be in the mix... specially in ODI & test....we are too wishful and whimsical to drop experience players....few failures...age...
Holder in early 30s has much cricket left in him...
His current form with ball in test is not so good...but he is still one of the best all-rounder in Caribbean, if not world...

I have no problem with that. I said 2 all rounders are my preference and I can go with both Shepherd and Chase with 4 specialist bowlers. Packing the team with batsmen and weakening the bowling does not work as we have seen time and time again when WI cannot defend 300+ scores.
ODI cricket actually is probably the most challenging of the cricket formats. The balance of the team counts for everything and the short time frame means that you cannot easily recover as you may be able to in test cricket when you have a second innings and changing pitch conditions over 5 days (i.e. 3 days when WI is playing
)
