Meanwhile the betting markets, Trump trades and X polls were showing win, and in many cases a clean sweep for Trump.

The point to understand is not that polling is a statistical art not an exact science. How can a poll of just a few hundred people accurately predict the voting intentions of tens of million of people? It relies on the poll sample to be random/unbiased/representative - but these are abstract not physical concepts. How do you test/measure abstractions?
