There was not time for any meaningful Primaries between Biden's removal and the DNC Convention.
The GOP primaries took over 6 months.
Biden should
(1) kept his promise of being a Transitional figure with one Term
(2) Remove himself much earlier to give all aspirants a chance to build their case in Primaries
(3) Give himself time to cement his own legacy by letting the country know his achievements
and tout his Bi partition Infrastructure program that impacted more Red States (see Kentucky)
thus giving the Dems Primary candidates good footing.
In the end Biden was not even able to take advantage of that achievement.
Kamala was not a weak candidate.
But she was basically given a task to carry water in a basket and while Trump had time to pump his
lies, enthused his base and wandered fearlessly in the Dems Blue States and gained ground.
The Democrats while had More money, did not organize and pump their base and relied on its
time worn support from Blacks and Latinos, not realizing their base was being lost.
In Pennsylvania this was stark.
Philadelphia which had elected the first Black and female Mayor months before, saw a big reduction
in votes with her victory and a significant rise in numbers from the GOP candidate .
They took no heed to the numbers.
In the Presidential race, the Mayor promised over 700k votes and got 200k less and signs of
problems were apparent when Kamala had to visit the Strongest Dem City many times .
Had she had surrogates that were aware, she should not have had to canvas so hard in what was
and has been a Major Stronghold.
Add to that, State had two Dem Senators and a Governor. Pennsylvania should not have turned red
but the Dems were caught napping and lost the Senior Senator . The guy who beat him from all
appearances, lost a primary to a Trump backed guy two years ago and now he in turn has apparently
has now won the same Senate office.
The tale of GOP Strength stretches wide as gains were being made in California and New York State
even as a forewarning two years ago.
Kamala did not have the time to craft a platform of her own and sell it to a public that would have
countered the MAGA/Trump machinery. ANd as VP was unable to answer for Biden's shortcomings
especially on the Border which MAGA defined as her as the Czar. She was not.
The House minority keader Jeffries also bear responsibility.
At a time when the GOP House was in total disarray ,booting their leader and threatening to shut the
country down, this clown instead of taking advantage by furthering more dissent and disarray with a new Speaker,
gave support to Johnson, Trump's ace lap dog who followed Trump's order to break the Border agreement.
He should made the GOP shut the government down and have the people Blame them. But Mr nice guy
will be in an even worse position as the GOP is likely to increase its majority in the House, just like the Senate.
So I cannot lay blame on Kamala. She did well against the odds of being black and a woman. That's two strikes to start with
and lack of time and lack of nous and special support by the DNC and surrogates were crucial factors in her loss and the knockout
punch.
Seasoned and successful surrogates came up short in her campaign and disaffected Blacks and Latino deserted the ship.
She was down in every category except with women support, especially black women, to Biden 's campaign four years
ago.
Pity Biden did not step out even two years ago and hand the presidency to her. Most of us in my orbit of discussion
felt that would have been his strategy but when he did not, he also turned off many Democrats because it was
obvious he was no longer suited for the requirements as President.
So we should not blame Kamala, she did well against huge odds.
