A.Russell...age 36...

Record Last 5 years..
2019 ODI World Cup...got injured after playing 2 matches... returned home..

2021 T20 World Cup...Failed miserably...West Indies fared poorly.. relegated to play qualifiers..

2023 ODI World Cup qualifier... unavailable

2024 T20 World Cup...Failed again..West Indies falter to deceive...

Now, Look at the World T20 scenario..

Most team giving new players a run....

CWI dual policy...
Darren Bravo..34 years..played regional... stupendous performance...told too old to play ..

Russell, a total failure for last 5 years...gets chance without any performance..

Raises questions...Russell is picked under new selection policy or a special pick....

Whatever... It's shame....

Not a shame at all.

Place deserved.

Like everyone else, if performance drops below the average in the squad, chopping block!

To be fair, Russell never did anything of note in WI colour's.

The dude is a good club/franchise cricketer... yet to do anything special at the international level.

The fact dat this guy has no shame and just using the maroon franchise to help keep him in the profitable franchises and the WICB board allow this nonsense to prevail makes we wonder is who really in boss of who?

Why are there no stats included in your post? Because they would undermine your argument?

https://sports.ndtv.com/world-cup-2019/andre-russell-ruled-out-of-world-cup-2019-2058566

Andre Russell has been ruled out of the ongoing World Cup 2019 due to a knee injury. West Indies have announced Sunil Ambris as the replacement for the all-rounder. The West Indian all-rounder was in visible discomfort with his knee. The 26-year-old Ambris will join the team ahead of West Indies' league fixture against India at Old Trafford on Thursday. Russell had taken five wickets in the ongoing tournament in the four games he featured for the West Indies. The West Indies are currently in eighth place in the points table and their chances of advancing to the knockout stage are looking very slim.

Andre Russell played pivotal rule in 2016 semi final against India.....there after almost nothing of note...

A player in his 20s could not play elaborately due to knee injury.....has set his sight to play 2026 World Cup...at 39 years....and posters support....

Why was he WI player of T20WC 24 ahead of Chase who outperformed everyone else.

The Russell experiment at international level has run its course. He's free like Narine to continue with Indian club teams if they choose to pay him big bucks for meaningless lickit.

Where is Jason Holder? He used to be Scammy's cappo. Where is the official report on why he wasn't picked ?

Holder is in fact commentating in this England series....injured.... rehabilitation...

"I haven't retired; that's still a long way off," he said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo. "We've still got several series ahead. I'm just working towards full fitness to get back on the field and play at full capacity," he emphasised.

Don't cherry pick stats from one World Cup. Your argument is baseless and you are arguing based on emotion.

Why are you stuck on a knee problem he no longer has? Grow up, move on, life is about change

The biggest problem on the team is Powell, not batting or bowling.
What is his role?
Russell, for years, has been sharing the four overs with others. Lately, Sammy wants to make him into one of his main bowlers.
The same goes for Shepherd and Smith from Jamaica, two overs on any day is the max.

I keep saying Russell should never be depended on to bowl 4 overs, he's a 6th bowler, bat him at 7, Chase at 6 and play 4 bowlers

I'd rely on Chase to bowl 4 overs before Russell!

Really baffled me why we went onto this game with only 5 bowlers since it is known that Russell, Shep and Shamar have been very inconsistent. Piss poor thinking by team management
They'll correct this tomorrow but the cat is. already out of the bag. The pommies have the measure of our bowling now...and that could be a problem for us going forward

The chap is way past his sell date. No one bedruged these chaps making money in Franchise cricket when given the chance to set up their families for life, but to have them included when it suits their purpose is sending a bad message in my humble opinion.
