Is this the most bizarre T20 innings EVER?

West Indies have batting down to their number 11 Joseph who can hold his own at one time looking like a low score has turned to a big score with the likes of motie and Shepard contributinglol

Because I've never seen a T20 innings where wickets had zero impact on the run rate.

I don't think the run rate went below 8 after over number 5

I think the commentators have more influence on our perspective than we realize

Objectively...can u recall an innings like this? This approach usually results in a total wipeout getting bowled out for 130.

Or, generally acceptable thing to do in cricket is save wickets, slow down the rate until the final 4 or so, that never happened at any point.

They kept their foot on the gas right throughout..and it actually worked, it's never worked before

I will say this for Darren Sammy and basically WI approach in T20 cricket in general.

We ALWAYS get criticized for going hard. Going hard for 20 overs involves risk and sometimes it doesn’t come off.

But the math is undisputable. It was never more evidenced than when we played India in the 2012 World Cuo semi final at Eden Gardens.

The Indians compiled what they saw as a winning score. And they didn’t lose very many wickets.

Wes Indies won in a canter. That was the match that Lendl Simmons was “dismissed” at least 3 times and was reprieved each time either due to no balls or drop catches.

The math is simple. A 6 is more than a 4

Boundaries are more than knocking the ball around for singles and two’s

Not to mention the opposition demoralization effect when we on song.

Many here look down on the T20 game calling it “lickit cricket” and cricket aficionados love to talk about “building an innings” and “consolidation”.

Have a look at basketball. Basketball has evolved over time. The three ball is king. It’s to the point where 7 foot big men aren’t banging in the paint looking to get tip ins and layups anymore. NBA teams want big men that can shoot the 3.

NBA champs nearly set a league record for made 3’s in their opening game of the season.

The math again is simple. 3’s are more than 2’s.

Players who have midrange game are not as coveted as they once were. Nobody going to or watching NBA games are exclaiming…….”Gee……I really miss layups”.

So back to WI…..,,,,dot balls…..wickets…..we going hard. It comes off more often than not…..which is why T20 is our best format

Ok, let me put it another way, there's usually one partnership or more of substance, 40 balls or so, when that approach is used and is successful.

The bizarr nature of this innings is the fact we lasted the twenty overs, and the longest partnership was 26 deliveries, we lost wickets consistently throughout the innings

Perhaps we have different recollections.

To me, this is mostly how we play
