I saw King at the start of all our innings just batting like a man told to fling bat at everything and just failing. You can get an eye in first then a range then launch…it’s 20 overs not 10.

You have to be good enough to exploit the power play. Batsmen failing to do that has nothing to do with Sammy.

Batting lineup was only long in the first match

Dropping Rutherford today and Hety last match shortened the batting lineup because everybody was cow bawling that 5 bowlers wasn’t enough

There’s a reason why ALL teams go hard in the first 6 overs.

It is to maximize the amount of runs in that period due to fielding restrictions as a result of the power play.

Every team uses that strategy……unless the pitch is a total minefield.

Very few if any at all “get their eye in” in the first 6 overs of a T20 match.

When going hard and it’s successful……nobody says a word.

When going hard and you’re 3 wickets down after 2 or 3 overs like West Indies here, everybody becomes test match cricket experts.

It's a stupid philosophy like bazball. You will win a few but lose when faced with quality bowling and bowler friendly conditions.

The real problem is that we are only developing one type of player. The only top line bat that we have that can really use his wrist and find gaps is Rutherford. Hetmyer was good early in his career but now has deferred only to power hitting. Chase is decent at it too.

Curious.

I think at under 12, under 14 and under 16 a player mentality and technique can be shaped.

People understandably criticize Pooran for getting out HOW he did today. It didn’t look good.

However, Pooran has profited from that shot more often than not. He backs himself. It didn’t come off today……but I would be surprised if he shelves it completely because of the result it had today.
