On this this track you need a specialist spinner, the sameness of this attack is boring.

Time Roach fi sit dung...What I hate with these windies veterans you have to shame them into retirement.

In his defence. Never pick himself. I have faith in my coach.
In reply to imusic
Does that mean that Roach must play?
The absence of a quality spinner is glaring. Bizarre selection by the Head Coach
Next match they gonna drop Shamar, Alzarri or Seales and claim that they are managing their workload...
Ole man Roach gotta play.... wonder how long this transition period gonna last for him? Another 10-20 test?
They already way behind on the over rate so a spinner will definitely play in the next match... can't risk losing captain slow poke for couple matches.

Some would argue Roach is the spinner

The dilemma many a red ball West Indian cricketer is going to face going forward.
Now I don't know Roachie's finances, so this isn't about him per se but who would have thunk that one James Anderson would pitch his name in the ppl mega auction with the possibility of going unsold come tomorrow night.
Now JA might well ketch a couple crore which would be worth the effort.
You think Kemar has that option at his disposal? Look until the WI selectors tell him siddung let Roach bowl himself into the ground. Every dollar earned doing that matters.

And in the meantime, a player like Thorne, Phillip, Mindley, Layne etc misses out on important international exposure.
People here always bawlin for players to play more red ball cricket. We not playing Australia or India. We playing Bangladesh at HOME.
What more ideal scenario to expose young promising (well Phillip eh young but you get my point) seamers to cricket at this level you going to get?
To play Roach for what purpose exactly?

To answer your question: aid and abet his retirement plan. Social welfare. A theme CWI seems to have embraced since they brought in red ball franchise.
The youngsters of whom you speak aren't quite there for test cricket anyhow. Their turn will come if the can find sufficient first class A Team cricket within the next 18-24 months to broaden their experience.
As it is I don't see Kemar going on for another 12-15 mths.

Five-prong ... with Athanaze and Hodge.

Because he is worth his place. People have to earn the right to play. Roach was a massive loss in England too. He is a class act.
