This West Indian legend made a plea to Hope- asking him to get back into Test Cricket, perhaps to even take over the captaincy with this hopefully being Brathwaite's last series.

GORDEN GREENIDGE TO HOPE: GET BACK TO TEST CRICK
In reply to Emir
Well said Sir Greenidge.
Especially taking over the captaincy from Braffit.
Hope was supposed to be VC for The Ozz tour,
but he turned down the tour.
In reply to Emir
Take over captaincy…… maybe
Braffs Last series……… not quite yet my friend not quite yet
I posted about this about 2 months ago, ask the musicman.
Shai Hope should get back to test cricket for whose benefit?
Certainly not his!
In reply to VIX
All these old legends going on about playing test cricket no seemingly in tune with reality.
Maybe they need to all have a talk with their venerable Captain Clive. Lloyd is now Chief of Chiefs of a Global short form League.
In reply to Emir
Sold out Test Cricket,
Unsold in the IPL?
Is he Greenidge gonna coach him? I’ve pointed out all the reasons Hope has not done well in tests
In reply to Brerzerk
And Blackie has done excellent.
In reply to tc1
And Bonner n Mckenzie as well.

An oxymoron in the Caribbean

What's the relevance? Big man really suh parochial, petty and lack objectivity? Fi Real? It is the wish of every well thinking WI fan that Hope could be a successful all format batsman
But alas, before that can happen there's work to do. Similarly, any sensible WI supporter knows that Blackwood is a spent force whose test career is done!
In reply to Brerzerk
A remark about a cricketer is now classified as 'petty and lack objectivity '.
Out of 6 men receiving multi- years contract...
Hope is one of them.... Interestingly, Braithwaite received only 1 year contract....CWI surely has something in their scheme of things....
It would be interesting to see the test squad for Pakistan tour.... Pakistan recently, used all spin attacks to flatten England..... Composition of team, pace& spin... whether Hope comes in picture....few other are in contention....Holder& Bravo.....
In reply to Onionman0
They certainly didn’t use an all spin attack when they thrashed Oz in Oz recently
In reply to Brerzerk
we both have.........and absolutely nothing has changed
In reply to Brerzerk
Can you name our best Whitehall international players and the reasons for the names?
Please give data and other international players as references.

fielding restrictions in whiteball cricket, smaller boundaries....reluctance of bowlers to bowl short especially. is not like the early 90s when all odis outside of the World Series Cup in australia were played with a red ball without fielding restrictions.

All you guys do is project, and change the subject. Using fallacies as defense is purely unobjecive.
Are you guys really so nationalistic yet claim to be WI supporters? Di Guh it alone mantra should wuk eh.
Maan unnuh touchy when it comes to certain peeps

I left Bim in April 1970 and have no relatives playing for Barbados or CWI; I am an individual who played cricket and loves the game.
I am also not a couch potato, I am still taking dance and golf lessons.
I have been humiliated at several staff Christmas parties by an Australian GM, whose dad will send her an Australian cricket gift to present to me.
GG is one of my four favourite West Indies players, he was a player when having problems would ask local who he trusted to watch him at practice.
I knew this because my mentor was proud, when he was asked.

Does this analysis go for Pollard, Pooran, Bravo and the mango man too.
In reply to tc1
pooran doesn't have the fc experience to succeed at tests as it is now, he certainly has the talent but not the experience which is almost zilch, pollard was unfortunate enough to come in when the windward islands hydra was warring with the WI's best players and made the right career moves at the time to secure his future. could guarantee WIPA will never have to have dinners or fete matches to help him cover his expenses. Dwayne Bravo has two hundreds at Perth against attacks containing lee, mcgrath, hilfenhaus, and mitchell johnson across seperate tours. HE HAS NO PROBLEM WITH SHORT PITCHED, HOSTILE BOWLING. Darren Bravo has a double hundred in nz versus an attack containing Boult, Southee and Wagner, who broke sunil ambris' hand with one of the first deliveries he bowled to him. He also has a hundred at hobart vs australia against an attack containing hazlewood and james pattinson. he scored 81 in the next game at the MCG against the same bowlers. HE HAS NO PROBLEM WITH SHORT PITCHED fast bowling.
In reply to tc1
Jumpy listed some performances of his Trinies but is ignorant of Hope and Kraigg scoring three centuries and 97 in a test match in England.
In reply to openning
kraigg can't bt but he does not get out to the short ball......hope on the other hand, well his struggles are well known. broad and anderson were line and length bowlers, they rarely employed the short ball as part of a barrage, which is why their records in australia are very ordinary
Let's see what else gonna be thrown at the wall to see if it sticks. I mention many times that Hope's immortal test in England was wonderful. I also mentioned that closer analysis shows great, weather less seam movement and the comparison for the rest of that series.
That a player became AN IMMORTAL in a single test yet averages below 25 is an indictment on that player, his FC entity as well as his international board (CWI).
Instead of taking umbrage to an objective criticism of a single player men should be lobbying the board to fix things. A Hope considering his int'l experience if properly "re-ingeered" for tests would be a tremendous asset to WI. Needs to keep what he has in white ball with a little tightening up for tests
In reply to Brerzerk
Hope has been around for some time. He knows what needs to be done. It is up to him to change his coach and his support staff.
You cannot prepare for Red ball cricket while playing only White ball, formats are different.
In reply to openning
He was virtually only playing red ball cricket during the majority of his 39 tests. Clearly something has been found in test cricket that has not been found in Odis or maybe cannot be replicated on a consistent basis in limited overs cricket
