He obviously does his homework, and he has the ability to turn interviews into naturally flowing conversations, which is not an easy thing to do. Nice work young man

This Kid Nikhil is a Good Interviewer
In reply to Walco
Correct .... he does his homework,
Good interview with Walsh and Roach today.
His interview has an informal touch like just sitting and 'gyaffing' about cricket.
He is ah boss.
In reply to Walco
Better at interviews than commentary
In reply to Chrissy
He got time to get better

Fc.k Woman…. You are so gifted at back handed compliments for the “type” of people that does not fit your mold. You should nevah evah admonish Jeremy for his perceived bias.
This just bring back the memories of your hatred days for Shiv on this board.
Steupssss….
In reply to Karma
Anybody with a modicum of decency should pound Jeremy for the gobar he regularly contributes on this website. Good example of why Guyana has the potential to descend into typical civil strife once the come down from the oil boom is over
In reply to Chrissy
His commentary is a work in progress, but we all get better with experience. I joked recently that Matthew Forde and Jacob Bethel should hire him as their agent.

Interview with Josh DaSilva now
In reply to Narper
He has a disarming quality about him that is impressive for someone his age. He gets his interviewees to feel comfortable talking to him. And that’s not always easy to do.
Nikhil also seems comfortable and not intimidated when doing commentary with the big boys.
In reply to Narper
I will have to catch the DaSilva interview on replay because I’m on the road.
Nikhil is a great find.
Best of what we have coming up.
High ceiling.

Hence my comment about Forde and Bethel
In reply to Chrissy
Yah, he's a journalist by trade.

I was wondering who did the interview with Jimmy because I did not see the beginning. But Jimmy is a friendly and approachable guy. I ran into him in a shopping mall in South Africa early last year
In reply to Walco
the interviewer has a bajan accent ....must be the bajan newbie who we heard earlier his year...I don't remember his name.
Sammy interview today
In reply to Narper
I missed it

Agree, but all in all good to see we have some good young and upcoming Commies and Interviewers here in the Caribbean.
Hope to see them on the international stage.

Any question about the stickmen drawings?
Think he is excellent. Good voice, volume and understands the game. Problem is West Indians have taken so much stick in his and others his lifetime, he has to be careful with comments, pro windies that is.
Look at Badree, used to enjoy him but he seems to be becoming monotonous, and who can blame him. Fazeer was good talker but so negative it was ridiculous.
Braithwaite seems to be upcoming, I like his attempts to analyse. A lot of the commentators we have seems to be repeating the obvious at times
In reply to jacksparrow
He was brought up in an environment where he was allowed to thrive and learn. At Harrison College and later at the Wanderers club, we regularly did post match interviews and posted them on our Facebook page. That's where Nikhil got his start and he gained confidence over the years.
In reply to Bestian
Were you part of the belle imagery group?
In reply to googley
Maah...was about his early life and achievement's as a player,
He is an avid golfer dese days
As someone who spent a career “interviewing” and trying to get information from guarded, uncomfortable and sometimes hostile individuals, I appreciated the interview that Nikhil did with Roach and Cuddy the other day. You get a lot more out of a question-and-answer session if the interviewee feels comfortable and at ease. It takes skill to get interviewees (including athletes) to feel at ease. Nikhil seems to be a natural in that regard, and it also helps that he is well prepared.
Oh shite. I can’t believe this old Lodge boy started a thread complimenting a Harrison College boy—an act that borders on blasphemy
It’s easy when you all buddy buddy with the players.
I’ve yet to hear or see him be critical of any players.
Let’s see how comfortable players are after being criticised.
Even more interesting will be to see who he criticizes.
If his post match interview with Shai Hope after Aljo walked off the field is any indication………we know the answer to that.
He asked Hope if he and Aljo had made up after the conflict. Hope issued a terse “no comment” and Nikhil failed to press or follow up. Just ended the interview.
Part of journalism is asking the “hard questions”. I’ve yet to see that from him.

A great review and critique on journalism from the musicman, it was a clear detailed analysis and a great assessment of the Journalist.

where is Culpepper
In reply to imusic
I don't know who he is buddy buddy with other than Forde and Bethel. I'm not sure if he is buddy with Roach and Cuddy, but it was his interview with them that prompted me to start this thread.
What follow up question would you have asked? And what do you think would have been the likelihood of Hope giving a different answer?
In reply to Walco
He travels with the team.
He fraternizes with players and management
He’s similar age as the majority of the team
He’s prominent with the social media and always bigging up the players
As for follow up questions…..at least ask what Hope think happened to cause Aljo to react the way he did
The question that he asked iwas strange…….”have you guys made up?”
The question I posed earlier would have been more appropriate.
Basically Hope boof him and he turtled.

In the early days, but my son did some camera work with Belle Imagery.
In reply to TheTrail
That's alright. Sometimes it takes a while to realise greatness!
In reply to imusic
Don't be naive. The answer would have been the same. But I guess a follow up would have earned him some journalistic cred with you.
And don't the other commies travel with and fraternize with players and management? This kid is a natural when it comes to interviewing, notwithstanding the points you raised.
TheTrail, yuh see how musicman got me defending ah HC boy? Doan tell nuhbody ah beg yuh
