play the captain's innings

Brerzerk 2024-12-03 18:58:41

Took the man182 innings to accumulate 5000+ runs. So you realize if WI had a decent tea. Over the past 30yes he couldn't have batted more than 60 innings?

Here is the facts on Kb, accordingly to you and many on this Mb , he cannot bat, however he has played 96 matches, H.S (212) 12 tons 30 (50) @avg of 33.43

The great Carl Hooper of Guyana and Sir Carl of Bim played 102matches, H.S (233) 13/27 @avg 36.46

The great Samuels played 71 matches, H.S (260) 10/30 @avg 32.97.

Lastly the great Daren Bravo played 56 matches H.S (2180 @avg 36.47.
KB has a Fc avg of 38.15, Samuels #6.65 and Bravo 35.80 and Sir Carl 47.68.
If one of the main criteria for batsmanship is scoring runs, then all 4 are weak performers, we all have said that KB cannot bat, then none of the above mentioned can bat.

You can be a fan of kraigg Brathwaite all you want. Your prerogative.

Doesn’t change the fact that poking is not batting.

i never said I was a fan of KB, I am basing an argument on performance which confirmed that the poker has similar stats as "Great players like Sir Carl, the Icon, and Lara Jr.

imusic 2024-12-04 02:46:40

In reply to tc1

Your argument is essentially saying that Charlie Davis with his 54.20 batting average is in the same category as IVA Richards and his 50.23 batting average.

SMH

There are lies, damned lies, and statistics.

KB’s statistics severely overestimate the kind of player he actually is……which is one that cannot bat.

You are comparing a player that played 5 matches with another that played 131 matches, in my analysis and statistical references, I used 325 matches to conclude that the 4 performed similarly. In essence your post is devoid of reason .

I have a question for you and I am rather sure you will support me where with your answer given your reasoning trend:

Gordon Greenidge - considered a "must start" and a great by most on every WI all-time team - - 108 Tests average 44.72
Chris Gayle - 103 Tests average 42.18

What do you make of Gayle?

Your analysis starts from the false premise that objective people consider Hooper or Samuels or Bravo as great batsmen. Apart from Bravo, who was good in his time compared to his peers in WI, neither Hooper or Samuels, for all their batting style, were great in their times. Kraigg on the other hand is neither stylish nor good. He is below average compared to his international peers despite playing for longer than most of them and even in poor WI batting line up where Nos 2-6 generally have played less than 15 tests, he is just average. No better than the newbies and without the excuse that they can put forward of lack of experience.

What do you make of Gayle?

I would say Gayle was a good (not in the great category) opener. He would be under more pressure than Greenidge merely because in his tenure he was, as the commentators often said, "the big fish."

If Gayle went early, it meant that the team was almost going to get a low score. Behind Greenidge there was a solid middle order in the 70s and 80s so he was able to play with more freedom.

This is my opinion (and I stand to be corrected): I think if Gayle had the security of a good middle order behind him, he would have had better statistics.

Gayle is a striker of the ball and destroyed most bowlers, while Greenridge was more of the classical player. both players have met the statistical requirement of 40 which is the standard in cricket as "very Good". Greenridge was more elegant and had the ability to bat longer innings.

On the side Hooper, Samuels and Bravo who are more classical and appear more pleasant to the eye still avg in the thirty like "can't bat" KB. They all struggled and remained as under performers.

Hooper, Samules, Bravo as well as KB fall within the above regardless of how their batting style and failed to reach the minimum standard of a good batsman period.

At the avg of 40 we can introduce other factors like style, domination, batting order etc.

This is good information.
I personally believe that both KB and Tage could not exist in the WI at the same time.

Players are selected after a few good innings and then dropped, which is not good for building a team.

The posters are reactionist; most select players after one good score.
