West Indies Captain Kraigg Brathwaite lamented their inability to execute their game plan as they succumbed to Bangladesh on the fourth day of the second Test match at Sabina Park on Tuesday.

Despite a fighting half-century from Kavem Hodge and a solid 43 from Captain Brathwaite, the West Indies were bowled out for 185 runs from 50 overs, handing Bangladesh a convincing 101-run victory and tying the series at 1-1.

Taijul Islam proved to be the nemesis for the West Indies, claiming five crucial wickets to leave the hosts reeling. His spin bowling caused problems for the West Indies batsmen, who struggled to cope with his variations.

Hodge’s knock of 55 runs from 75 balls, inclusive of six boundaries, was really the lone bright spot for the West Indies at point in the game, but his dismissal leg before wicket to Islam in the 39th over marked a significant turning point in the match. The West Indies’ batting line-up crumbled under pressure with wickets falling at regular intervals.

Reflecting on the loss, Brathwaite emphasised the importance of being impulsive and adapting to the situation.

“The game plan was to be impulsive, that was the first thing I let the guys know,” he said. “I thought we started well, but obviously, we didn’t carry it right through the day.”

Brathwaite is emblematic of what is wrong with the test team. Here we have the putative top batsman averaging low 30s with the bat. Regardless of the status of the game he bats as if he is in a survival mode, batting at a snail's pace while showcasing forty different permutations of the defensive prod

Carl Hooper was elegant, yet after 102 test matches, their test stats are similar.
Is it the slowness of his batting or the team's batting in general?

Are they youngsters on the team with an average over his, after 5-6 test matches?

Only Sarwan, Shiv and Gayle performed in the last 20-25 years.
So name who should replace him, based on performance.

I agree, but Brathwaite has become more and more defensive over the years. It appears he as lost his confidence as a batman and the ability to score in difficult situations. Batting slow in test matches is not the problem, it is him not able to adjust to the current situation and score meaningful runs.

For the past 3-4 years, I have been asking him to express his gratitude to those who have supported him and to transition to a different management group. His current coaches seem to be stagnant, so I believe it's time for a new vision.

What was Hooper’s average as CAPTAIN? What is Kraig’s. How many test wickets does Kraig have? How many does Hooper? Who would you pay your hard earned money to watch bat; Kraig or Hooper?

False equivalence!

Plus you are arguing from a faulty premise. Nowhere did I cite Hooper as a great batsman.

Yet, I would pay $100 to see Hooper make 20 runs before I go to see Brathwaite crawl to 50 runs in 150 balls - even for free!

Sports is also about entertainment!
No wonder there seemed to have been more players on the field than spectators In the stands the other day at Sabina Park. And not without reason.

When a purveyor of mediocrity like Brathwaite is entrenched as a sure pick and captain (a la Sammy) it highlights the depth to which West Indies cricket has plummeted.

We always laughed when Hooper batted, he reminded us of getting nto bed with a beauty, leaving when she took her clothes off.
I have plenty VHS tapes from them days, not one with Hooper.

A “new vision” at 32?

You think this is cataract surgery or something?

Mr. Couch Potato
Everyone has been laughing at Charles Barkley, Tiger Woods had a good time laughing at it, he even had a show on the Golf Channel with a coach trying to fix it, I saw it last year and was shocked to see the improvement, he is winning money now.
It cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars to fix it, but he can now drive the ball and is winning money.
So sit on your couch and think we old guys cannot dance, swing a golf club or change the tempo when batting.
Dont be like Mickey, he told me all black people can dance, you don't need to take lessons, Children, Dad you made us take Violins and Keyboard to Hawaii, Florida and Barbados, and drill us twice a day to practice, Uncle Russ has not taken a lesson on anything, you must take dance lessons.
A couple of years later, I was dancing Rueda with my instructor and a group, and later, with my instructor's wife, the clown brought a chair onto the dance floor, telling the patrons that I was the best dancer in the club, and he wants to see me dance.
he created one big mess that night.
I get it from allyuh couch potatoes.sad

charles old swing

Who is laughing now
