T&T Nine Years of Decline: It’s Time for New Leadership
Keith Rowley government tenure in Trinidad and Tobago finds itself at a crossroads.
The promises of progress and prosperity have been replaced with rampant crime, deepening poverty, financial scandals, and economic mismanagement that have left T&T reeling.
Citizens are crying out for change, for leadership that understands their struggles and is capable of delivering tangible solutions.
It is becoming increasingly clear that the current administration cannot rise to this challenge.
A glaring example of this failure lies in the closure of Petrotrin.
Once a cornerstone of the economy, Petrotrin provided jobs and financial security for thousands of families.
Its abrupt shutdown devastated livelihoods, disrupted communities, and left a gaping hole in our economy.
The government claimed this was a move toward efficiency, yet the Auditor General’s report tells a different story, revealing tens of millions of dollars unaccounted for.
Where is the accountability? Where is the transparency? Instead of strengthening the nation, these actions have weakened it further.
Perhaps nowhere is this failure more pronounced than in the realm of national security.
Under the leadership of National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds, violent crime has surged to unprecedented levels.
Citizens live in constant fear, unsure if they or their loved ones will be the next victims of violence.
Families are grieving, communities are living on edge, and the once vibrant streets of our nation are now overshadowed by fear.
This is not what Trinidad and Tobago citizens deserve.
Instead of tackling these pressing issues head-on, Minister Hinds has resorted to deflection and baseless attacks, offering little more than empty rhetoric.
His inability to confront the harsh realities of his failed tenure is a glaring indictment of his leadership.
Citizens have grown tired of his tone-deaf commentary, which not only dismisses their valid concerns but also fails to offer any meaningful path forward.
The facts are clear: under this administration, our national security has crumbled.
The government’s inability to address the root causes of crime, coupled with a lack of bold, innovative solutions, has left citizens to fend for themselves.
Leadership means taking responsibility, and on this front, Hinds and the PM have utterly failed.
But the blame does not rest solely with Hinds.
The issues we face today are the result of systemic mismanagement across the board.
From the crumbling healthcare system to the stagnant economy, the evidence of poor governance is everywhere.
The PM has had nearly a decade to demonstrate his ability to lead, and the results speak for themselves.
It is time for new leadership. Leadership that prioritizes the safety, well-being, and prosperity of all citizens.
Leadership that listens, plans, and delivers.
Leadership that understands that governance is not about political theatrics but about improving the lives of the people who call this nation home.
Citizens must demand better.
Citizens must hold its leaders accountable for their failures and insist on a government that works for the people, not against them.
The future of Trinidad and Tobago depends on our ability to stand up and say, "Enough is enough."
T&T cannot afford another nine years of decline.
The time for change is now. The time for action is now.
Together, we can build a nation where prosperity, safety, and opportunity are not just slogans but realities.
Let us take the first step toward a brighter future by demanding the leadership we deserve.
T&T depends on it.
