Let’s look at Keacy Carty’s Stats, his performance against Bangladesh, which is not a ranked test team, leaves more to be desired. Cartys batting so far during this test scores are: 0, 3, 40, 4, with an aggregate of 47 runs in 4 innings or an average of 11.75 for this test match.
Is this the performance we need for our #3 batsman?
Although both McKenzie and Carty test batting averages are nothing to write home about and I do like Carty’s approach but we need more consistency in our #3 player, with more dominant scores.
Waiting for comments in support of the homie while WI cricket continues to decline.

Kirk McKenzie VS Keacy Carty for Test #3 position
Usual suspects are unusually quiet on this matter
In reply to Slipfeeler
You should do a little research before you continue to post shoite over and over again.
What do you mean by Bangladesh is not a ranked team? Didn't Bangladesh qualify for a WC the other day and WI didn't?
Whats the point of this post? Yuh trying to say McKenzie should be the #3 instead of Carty? If so, based on what?
Ah think I'm better off not reading de entire post.. looks like bare nonsense.
In reply to Slipfeeler
forget about stats Keacy Carty is simply better, he shows more confidence and authority at the crease, I hope I am wrong but do not think McKenzie will make it as
an international batsman
In reply to bird
1. I hold no brief for either batter.
2. What is the matrix you use to measure confidence? May I suggest "Shark Tank", you could make lots of money selling that matrix.
3. You're saying McKenzie facing up to Starc, Cummings, Hazlewood etal in Australia is not confidence? There's that Bird's Confidence Matrix (BCM) again.
4. McKenzie faced Australia (one of the top 3 pace outfits) in Australia. He faced England (another of the top 3 pace outfits) in England. Carty faced Bangladesh in the Caribbean. I suspect you can see the difference.
5. So confidence and authority (seems you have an Authority Matrix (BAM) as well) determines who is a better batter?
6. Prior to responding, please see point #1 again. Furthermore, just yesterday, I disagreed with Slipfeeler on his call for McKenzie for the Bangladesh series. So no homerism here. I am very curious about your two matrices.

I'm so glad to see.your unbiased rational questioning. I intend to do the same next door on some other matters regarding both mi's and disinformation. Men can pull stuff from dem nether parts yes
In reply to Brerzerk
I disagree with you. You are forgetting it is a rum shop. There's potency in dem dere likka. It make some talk stuff that is antagonistic to rhyme and reason.

Ì backroom wusserer
Carty was picked for his one day form it certainly is not for his 27 fc average .and mckenzie no better at this moment
There you have it in West Indies cricket, a player who shouldered the batting against Australia, probably the #1 or #2 test team in the world is overlooked for a player struggling to bat against Bangladesh, and folks are wondering why WI cricket continues a downward trend. WI cricket is like a joke thing now, everyone gratified and happy that there are no Yardies on the team, in fact they would rather lose a the test match.
In reply to Slipfeeler
Everybody still waiting for you to make a case for your boy...
- De dude that looked lost after that lil 50 in OZ and couldn't even buy a run
- De dude that returned to FC cricket and still couldn't buy a run.
Post some numbers to back up your argument... why your homie should play ahead of Carty?
In reply to anthonyp
Precisely. McKenzie looked hopeless after he vooped his way to 130 runs in Australia. It was not that he dominated Oz. I was there. He just managed to do a little less worse than the others because he closed his eyes and swung his bat. Please Slipfeeler. Please do not classify McKenzie as an international class batsman. You taking this thing for a real joke now. I am not saying that Carty is the answer to our prayers but he has at least proven himself in small part at least by scoring runs against good teams in ODIs and it is not entirely his fault that he has made his debut on the awful strips that we call pitches in the WI.
In reply to PalsofMine
Well-said, Carty has proven himself as a valuable ODI batsman, but he has not proven yet that he is up to the task as a test batsman. How could you guys accept his 11.75 average against a lower ranked team Bangladesh? Just like Hope is an excellent and an outstanding ODI batsman but struggled as a test batsman.
As per your own admission, McKenzie, “ managed to do a little less worse than the others”, so your solution is to bench him and keep the others who are worst than him? Without any developmental training or coaching for the young cricketer? While others who are just as inconsistent as him are allowed to play for many, many test matches with only periodic glimpses of success.
Insularity killing WI cricket, if it was a Yardie batsman with an 11.75 batting average against Bangladesh, all you hypocrites would have already been all over the boards criticizing and begging for the player to be removed but yet you guys are satisfied with a mediocre non-Yardie test player. Blackwood with a 30.0 test average was forced out of the squad while you guys willingly accepting a player with. 21.6 batting average? According to Ninjaman “Sum ting nuh right”. I rest my case.
In reply to Slipfeeler
Anyone who suggests that McKenzie should be on the Windies team is delusional.
If not full crazy.
I suggest that you seek psychological assistance bro.
In reply to TanteMerle
There you go, that’s the most hypocritical and insular statement I have ever heard from you. When your batsmen were hopping, skipping and running from Australian bowlers, who shouldered the WI batting?
Such shameful comments, which reflects the standard of our cricket.
Carty stays. He is a good batsman and dropping him right now will kill his confidence. Needs a longer run before a decision is made on his test future
He’s done well in ODIs and the hope is that that form will eventually translate to tests. He’s technically sound. Whether or not he makes it as a test batsman: time will tell. But dropping him right now is not the right way to go
In reply to brians_da_best
No one is saying to drop Carty, but I think Kirk McKenzie should not be discarded but allowed to mature and develop this tremendous talent as a part of the squad. If Carty continues to fail then McKenzie should be prepared to take over the role. WI players are too inconsistent to lock down any position on the team.
In reply to Slipfeeler
You are comedian, Kirk avg 5.5 against England and you still want him to continue, let him go to India to gain some experience to perform better in the future.
Once these youngsters are selected, they should be managed.
I am of the opinion that DM Bravo, Bonner, Mayers, Tage and players selected in the last 3-5 years should be part of the squad.
The selectors continue to
select players year after year, without looking at the development structure.
Are 8-10 innings the reason to drop a player?
These players are selected on potential; they need time to develop, and the lack of structure is the reason for these players' development.
In reply to tc1
Looks like consistency only applies to Yardie players. McKenzie performed creditable in at least two test matches, then failed in one test and was quickly discarded, while others are given so many opportunities. In fact it took a regional outcry from fans around the the region for them to get rid of Reefa.
In reply to openning
I am concurring with you here Professor
In reply to Slipfeeler
Let us discuss his selection.
Are you aware of the reasons for his selection?
In reply to openning
No one is saying that he should he reselected at this time but should be allowed to train and develop with the team as a member of the squad, however, they are sending him to India for training which is a move in the right direction for his development along with the others. Hopefully he will learn to curb his appetite for big shots. Non-insularity and fairness means that all players should be subjected to deselection with poor performances, not only Kirk McKenzie.
In reply to Slipfeeler
I agree with you that Kirk should not be discarded from the WI set up even though he may not be in a current squad. This is where the need for A tours comes into play. Kirk would definitely be a A team player to develop his game to international standard. Carty also needs that development. CWI has to focus on having at least one home and one away A series in 2025 to see which players, esp batsmen and spin bowlers, can make at least minimal international standards.
In reply to Slipfeeler
He is not being discarded, he (to CWI credit) has been sent to India to hone his craft. That is not discarding that is assisting his development. Given his failure in England and minimal returns in the recent ODIs, Kirk has no business being on a Test squad at the moment. He has shown he can score big, he has shown he has all the shots, he however:
1. cannot play spin - that is being addressed in India.
2. needs to understand that having all the shots is one thing, knowing when to utilize them is an art he must cultivate.
In reply to anthonyp
If you have followed this chap in the past , the answer to your question should be simple.
In reply to JoeGrine
Refreshing that you are always the voice of reason.
In reply to openning
First, Bravo was not dropped!!
He was not selected for an ODI squad, grew a tantrum and left the game.
He is not a modern day ODI cricketer.
He was approached to be part of the test squad for Ozz and declined/refused.
So any argument for Bravo is mute.
Yes the 'Big Idiot' ruined Bravo's career earlier, but Bravo is a the sole blame of his not continuing.
As far as the others on your list is concerned,
CWI needs to have more competition.
Selecting a few men to go to the academy, or Hindia is not even close to enough.
Where are the A Team tours
Why not have USA, Canada, county, Ozz state teams in our local competitions.
They did it a few years ago with with 2 county teams.
The caveat is that only the local teams can make semis.
Proposition USA, Canada etc to cover their expenses.
Why are we not playing more tests against minnows.
The ICC do not dictate that we cannot arrange such tours.
There are plenty ways to improve our performances and raise our standards.
In reply to TanteMerle
Keep executing lovely cover drives and your on-drives are immaculate.
Don't get swell headed tho

I have no problem with that, I wear it with as a badge of honour, if you have followed my posts, I have no hidden agenda, for years I have been the unofficial PR and Voice for all Yardie players. I have verbally battled with all of you guys over the years, and many times as the only one against the many dottie fans
In reply to NYCGURU
Surely you jest, your compliment is noted, however, I refuse to accept the nomenclature "voice of reason" given that he who posts on here with that name is usually void of......
In reply to Slipfeeler
Your slip showing. At least Keacy Carty has a hundred at ODI and 41.95 average. The reality is that Keacy has only played 4 matches so give him a chance. A lot of these batsmen are not playing enough 4 day cricket during the year and that is why they are found wanting. They should be on A Team tours when there is no test cricket.
You continue to embarrass the black green and gold with your insular posts.
Please stop, show some objectivity and good sense, that's what the big island supposed to bring to the argument
In reply to JoeGrine
You may fool the gullible Yardies on this board but you cannot fool me. Simple there is nothing to support Slipperyfella's assertion that Kirk warrants a place in the Test team ahead of Keacy and you know that.
Keacy Carty….,like many others….has A LOT of work to do
In reply to imusic
They are not playing enough 4 day cricket. Once there is no Test cricket they need to be on A team tours playing 4 Day cricket. FC season is too short and not at a high standard to help them.
In reply to voiceofreason
You may fool the gullible Yardies on this board but you cannot fool me. Simple there is nothing to support Slipperyfella's assertion that Kirk warrants a place in the Test team ahead of Keacy and you know that.
That's a rather ignoramus post by you. I have repeatedly said, McKenzie is where he belongs, in India and not on the present Test team. What I know about McKenzie's readiness, or lack of it, for this Bangladesh series has been articulated by me pellucidly (your word) in this thread.
In reply to Slipfeeler
You back with this again? I remember your blackwood and Shai Hope days. If it was up to you Hope would never play for the WI, and we would have lost a good ODI player.
You remember all those treads you made back in the day??? Funny stuff.
Now it's Carty and Kirk.
To be honest, Kirk hasn't really impressed me with is temperament. He has talent, but he plays too many get out shots, like you boy blackwood. I have hope that he improves though. He just needs to get it right between the ears.
Carty, is a talent too. I see him as one of our more promising young batsmen.
I don't see Kirk being ahead of him right now. Time will tell though.
I feel more comfortable with Carty. With McKenzie I feel like teams work his weaknesses easier and he is more susceptible to an early dismissal.
In reply to Gun_Play
Again, you should remember that as expressed in my previous posts, Hope is an outstanding and excellent ODI batsman but failed as a test player and those are the facts, of which we are all aware. Again, there are no posts in which I called for Carty’s replacement, I simply suggested that McKenzie should be prepared and ready, in case Carty continues his poor test performance, which has nothing to do with Carty’s tremendous ODI batting, just like Hope. I think some of you guys need a UWI Use of English class refresher.
In reply to DIEHARD
You have failed to grasp the undercurrent, I have been on this board for a long time and the oldsters have an accurate understanding of what is happening here, they have utilized the same tactics and strategies in the past. Your ignorance is not blissful
In reply to Slipfeeler
Buddy, you were all over this MB calling for Blackwood over Hope.
Both had just begun their careers, and the talent of both obvious, to some. Blackwood was doing his hit and hope for the best thing and Hope's potential wasn't seen beyond First class level, which many on this board tried to tell you.
Thank Goodness someone at CWI saw this potential as well. Like I said, left up to you, Shai Hope would have been cast aside.
All these guys are talented, it's the ones that can use the thing between their ears that will succeed.
In reply to Slipfeeler
The title of your thread is carty vs Kirk.
At this time carty is ahead of Kirk
