Spectators?
Would that be considered unwanted socialism and result in sanctions?
Dumb muthas.

What if we reduced ticket prices to attract
In reply to Curtis
You really think the problem is ticket prices?
In reply to JOJO
Caribbean people love cheap or freebie.
They'll show up and the result might be mutually beneficial to both players and spectators
Make a day at the cricket imaginative
People done dont like cricket in its current WI guise
Make food, frolic and fun for the whole family then maybe people will travel to the ‘distant’ stadia, and leave church before 3 pm!
I bet this is the premier activity in St Kitts today.
The CEO/PRES should be driving the rass bus to pick up people to drop off at ground.
How long we playing home games in near-empty grounds?
What about business sponsors of tickets for their clients, especially for festive season?
In reply to Halliwell
Do something. Free rum. Free live band at break.
Have CC.com seniors ride around ground on a donkey cart at innings break, waving country flags.
people still won't attend even if it were free.
Who wants to see Bangladesh, or worse yet WI play any type of long-form cricket?
they shoulda make the games 40-over a side, and slot in a 10/10 club match during the lunch break and charge for that!!
In reply to VIX
Yeah, but alyuh still watching pon tv
In reply to Curtis
not me!
I'm only sporadically checking the scores!
In reply to VIX
Well why? Stop checking rass...
Start winning more often and people will turn up... everybody fed up seeing licks.
People prefer to watch the embarrassment at home
In reply to anthonyp
Take your sidechick to the game. Easy points
In reply to Halliwell
Like at golf??
In reply to imusic
That’s no joke
A day at Wentworth isnt just beers and chicken wings…and the superstars are on show
In reply to Halliwell
That’s the thing.
What superstars Caribbean people coming to see on the test team?
Despite some in denial, our superstars play white ball cricket.
In reply to imusic
You are correct
Some clever marketing of players meeting fans, the Shamar story, Meet the Legends at Lunchtime…we used to have superstars at one time
Imagination
In reply to Halliwell
We still have superstars, or near that status anyway
They all play white ball cricket.
The test bowling attack is decent. Outside of that one performance by Shamar in Oz, nothing that warrants anything approaching superstar status.
The less said about the test batting the better.
The cricket isnt interesting nor competitive
Look at the Aussie vs India game over 50k show up for each day so far
In reply to allan
Primary reason:
Both teams have superstars on each side that people will leave their homes and pay to come see play.
Who you doing that for on WI vs Bangladesh test series?
Rana has potential to be such a player
Let's fill the ground next match. Whatever it takes.
Remember if a tree falls in a forest and there's no one there to hear it, does it make a noise?
Bring your drums, cowbells and rum. Come on down.
In reply to Curtis
The problem is that we will lose the next one. We are incapable of winning 2 in a row. And as I said in a previous post, if either Hope or Rutherford fall cheaply, that is the end of that. All of the others and bits and pieces batters.
In reply to Halliwell
I have told my children that if any of them have an ego, let them play golf.
It humble you.
Any time West Indies begins to win on a consistent basis, the people would turn out to view them. Our problem is finding a formula to win, consistently, and once we get there, the people would show up.

Life is now about convenience-
Many more watch from seats and sofas and beds than those willing to sacrifice or risk work...especially this time of year.
As long as the Sponsors and Advertising revenues keep coming- the model will remain the same.
The most you can hope for is when Convenience is weaker than the Excitement to Be there live takes over.
also known as drawing power of STARS and the Hype and build up captures fans attention.
again...This time of year...most things come second to Christmas activities.
Having worked in Football this is how the leagues operate:
1. Ticket sales for 100% of the Seats are sold to the "Marketing Department" for a reduced price by the "Ticketing Department"
2. Marketing's job is to sell 100% of the tickets for a profit
3a. If 100% of the tickets aren't sold, the Ticketing Department fines the Marketing Department based on the quantity of unsold tickets
3b. Unsold tickets can be given to charity (schools, Sport Academy, etc) with an economic analysis that those Ticket holders will contribute to concessions/food etc. This reduces the fines.
This puts a lot of onus on Marketing to get every ticket sold. They reach out to Season Ticket holders 2 weeks before a match to verify if the holder is attending - if not, they take the ticket and resell for you.
The goal is always to have a bottom on every seat.
Can WICB implement something like this? It is uneconomical for a Nuts man, Cotton Candy or Beer Vendor to purchase a Concession ticket because he would not make back his money in the current situation.
Having a full crowd brings in
- Ticket Sales
- Vendor Sales
- Parking Sales
- Increased Support for the team
What does WICB need to do to understand how to run cricket like a business for profit?
In reply to Curtis
Bro...it could be free. People don't have time for cricket on a week day.
In reply to imusic
they used too. i remember encountering machel, 3 canal and dawg e slaughter on the final day at QPO when denesh and fidel defended for over an hour to keep england from a series levelling win in 2009. we were all on the mound close to where dos santos stand used to be before it was demolished during the presentation; had a few drunk angry englishmen their as well. machel was about 6-8 ft to my right but he was unmistakable(second time I've met machel. first time was on a flight with my parents to JA in 2004 and he actually autographed some of my brother's sketches) and 3 Canal was just in front of me and were complaining about Russell Tiffin's performance as an umpire during the series and calling for him to be banned. Its for WI to start winning and you will see how cricket will explode in popularity again
When people had less things to do ...90s and back, first class cricket matches used to be packed out.
Here's a WI Superstar batting in Caribbean and plenty of empty seats.
Issue is that Cricket has faded from the limelight. Major League baseball had a strike several years back and when strike was over, fans had lost interest and attendance was poor. So this is not without precedence.
There needs to be a dedicated effort in the Caribbean to promote cricket. All of you that say we have no superstars and we are not winning, you are right but if folks are not interested in the sport what are the chances new great talent emerging?
Each territory needs to promote the sport, as part of our legacy culture .

Excellent model, thank you for sharing.
This is exactly the thinking required.
