Our ODI batting finally seems strong

The openers pick themselves. Carty at 3 and Hope at 4, with Sherfane at 5 are a very solid middle order.

With athanaze in the mix as well, this is a team that should back itself to cross 300 more often than not, as most top teams do these days

I would say Hetty and Pooran are also in the mix in the middle order. Finally competition for places.

they are playing against bangladesh that should be taking into context.even so bangladesh exposed certain things that much better teams will expose or have exposed the first three batsmen in the wi order have problems rotating the strike and soak up a lot of dot balls and put pressure on the middle and lower order.

Carty seems to be able to rotate the strike quite well.

The openers have a different game, they like going after the bowling. That said even they need to rotate the strike better

So why is Pooran keeping himself, or being kept away, from the ODI team? Rest?

Pooran seems to be able to pick and chooose his games. And so far he seems to be getting his way

Same for Hety

This can’t be good for West Indies cricket

If it’s Pooran picking and choosing when it comes to 50 over cricket then I agree it isn’t a good look

Sammy has to get tough with the top order, they are walking, between the wicket.they dont apply pressure on the fielders.

TheTrail 2024-12-11 23:01:36

They (the WI) look strong against Bangladesh because they are two weak bottom dwellers. Somebody has to be the strongest of the two.

I was an Hefty fan. But he does not inspire loyalty.

I wouldn't judge any of our cricketers when they do good, very good or exceptional against B-A-N-G-L-A=D-E-S-H.Bangladesh is no better than any of our regional teams

I see you, but...Carty is still not as confident as he has been in the past for me.

But I get yuh.

WICFan 2024-12-12 17:27:08

They could still do with improving o. The amount of dot balls they accumulate, but yeah, the odi side appears to be improving.

Halliwell 2024-12-12 17:34:28

Look, the bowling have to complement the batting…is Bangla and we need to be level headed

Im tempted to say- More like coming apart at the seams...but lets be charitable.

Carty is tentative...too much of late for me.

Jangoo- Debut...seeing some nice application.

If these two can get a decent partnership at a proper clip...I will be happy.

Nice 66 as I type big grin
