Sooner or later the life of franchise money will come his way. He already has an IPL contract and more leagues will open up for him.

He’s not in the mix for tests so essentially he’ll have to make this choice. Global T20 leagues or West Indies white ball cricket (unless he gets a red ball contract as well)

Rutherford already is a seasoned franchise player. I want to see him in the test side. CWI should make allowances for smaller tours to accommodate our best players who are currently not in the test side

Doesn’t he first have to play red ball cricket to even be considered?

White ball cricket doesn’t teach you to build an innings. Be patient and assess conditions. Play yourself in and then wait until the bad ball comes along to score. Hit every ball along the ground. Manipulate the field for one’s and two’s etc.

And if you don’t believe me……all the cricket experts and connossieurs on here insist that is the case.

A PLAYER CANNOT GO FROM PLAYING WHITE BALL CRICKET TO PLAY THE ULTIMATE FORM OF THE GAME JUST LIKE THAT.

That’s sacrilege.

Franchise money and franchise life is nothing new to Rutherford. Maybe THIS TYPE of player, having had the experience behind him, will have a friendlier relationship with the CWI(BC)

Theoretically now with the new policy, our white ball players can play tests

We need to find a way to retain our talented players. All format contracts are the way forward so they see some more money coming their way representing the west indies

What I love about Rutherford is the rate at which he is maturing both as a batsman and a man.
Dont think we should rule anything out for him.

Set the T/20 league players down and go through the ftp with them, prioritise series and try to avoid clashes with IPL and other leagues.

If a player rejects an international call-up to play a T/10 tournament or to go play Sri Lanka or Zimbabwe tournaments then that is for selectors to consider their involvement in future.
