Regarding NATO- Trump has repeatedly claimed they haven't paid their fair share for decades now and in addition, they hardly buy American exports, such as autos due to their various laws and policies around clean air etc.

Western Europe to a large extent have better quality of live than many American taxpayers.

He wants to put a stop to the imbalance of trade and subsidies for NATO
