LIAT Flying between Jamaica and Antigua?

Buoyed by new investment, rebranded LIAT 20 Airline is scheduled to begin direct flights between Jamaica and Antigua on December 20, further strengthening regional air connectivity and enhancing Caribbean governments’ quest to promote multi-destination tourism.

According to CEO Hafsah Abdulsalam, the once-weekly service into Kingston will be price-competitive.

For Jamaicans, it’s an exciting opportunity for the options that are now being made available to them. So we’re offering affordable flights… At least on a route-per-route basis, our commitment is to offer better rates than the competition,” Abdulsalam told the Jamaica Observer on Sunday.

“We would like our Jamaican brothers and sisters to embrace LIAT, to try the product. I’m sure they would go back and advocate on our behalf ,” she said.

I remember back in the days with those scary LIAT landings into Dominica and St. Vincent, not for the faint of heart

Why not Antigua to Mobay, would seem more viable.

Worst landing in the region for me remains St Maarten - jet or prop.

They are planning expansion to MoBay next year, for a piece of the tourism pie, 4 million visitors to Jamaica per year, is an attractive incentive.

Have you landed in Union Island?

Never, I went down to Canouan Island by ferry boat. Landing in US Virgin Islands, is like the landing into the sea, as a major part of the runway is actually on in the sea.

I heard that in Dominica the plane have to fly sideways between two mountains to approach the runway.
Better yet, someone told me when the plane turn sideways between the two mountains you could see a a dreadlocks on his toilet in a hut shelling peanuts . Same dread showed up at the airport selling peanuts later. Not sure if he washed his hands.

Funny stuff but passengers experienced some scary landings in Dominica and before St. Vincent got their new airport.
