RIP Barbara Gayle…smh…
In reply to FanAttick
Wow...after being under the weather past two days, I log into CC Com to see this ???
Barbara and I started at the Gleaner same day/time in 1969 and from Day one she was
posted to the Courts System as reporter..
She was probably the last link I had with that Newspaper and to read
of the tragic despicable acts that took her life is unbearable. I am shattered
in more ways than one.
My country of birth is really in a very sad state.
Fan, this is more than Madness.
Barbara was one sweet soul, dutiful ,kind and proud achiever that excelled at her
craft and well loved. She did not deserve this, but the world we live is gone
off a deep end.
Those who knew her and worked alongside her will not get over this anytime soon.
Condolences to her family, colleagues and friends and the Gleaner Community.
RIP sweet Soul.
My God!!!!

Sad beyond belief

Chrissy, I love my birth land so much but I cry inwardly too often now.
I would lie if I say I am not affected as this is not the Land I grew up with
and served too.
I still wear the nickname NATIONALIST, given to me by JAAA folks back
in the 70s. I think Herb Mck was the one who pinned that on me .
But Jamaica has changed too much in too many wrong ways that I am saddened.

It’s depressing bro…I’ve given up on Jamaica….the land of Eric Donaldson’s birth no longer exists…

I gave up in 2009...my last visit as I wanted to see some ODI with India there...But left
Bina early in the game as an old Firestick heard of presence and off to Clarendon
we went...
I had already silently pledged that I would not return to the Yard ,,been 15years so it looks
like I can sing Oh Cherrio Baby now.
Every time I play Stanley Beckford's "Dreaming of A New Jamaica" (a land of peace and love) I cry

Stay safe my friend. It’s because of crimes like this, my wife said she could never return to live permanently in JA.
In reply to Chrissy
Chrissy, keep your head down my girl. Keep safe.

I left Jamaica several decades ago..initially with a dream of returning at some point….that dream has long since faded …

This looks like a hit in disguise. Her Benzand phone were stolen. She lived in a gated community.
Hmmmmmmm.
In reply to FanAttick
Bro, it pains me to admit that I share your sentiments. Fifty years ago when I left, I carried around in my wallet a fifty cent note, the one with Marcus Garvey (remember that), to remind me that one day I would return to spend the rest of my life, but sadly like you that dream has died.
In reply to Casper
I have no fear in JA. I walk all around my neighbourhood without a care in the world.
They found her Benz this morning.
Babs lived in a gated neighbourhood.

RIP Barbara, my former Gleaner colleague....

Colleagues and friends are really family in a real sense. Hurts badly.
It is sad but its going to be relatives or someone close to the victim involved in both these cases. We see and read these things in Jamaica and news and its papers and not saying that violence is not out of hand but it would be shocking if you really found out how many of these despicable crimes were committed by relatives or someone close to the victim-directly or indirectly. Sad to say but the greatest risk to returning Jamaicans are their own relatives.

That seems to be the case from all I have been reading over these past few years.
Too many cases of land disputes too, envy . jealousy etc.
Far too sad tales and outcomes.
