Trying to find a rational reason for Fletch’s inclusion
We know that Pooran came into the series not at 100% due to illness
We also know that Shai Hope isn’t in the squad due to going to Big Bash
Perhaps Fletch was chosen as a “logical” replacement for Pooran behind the stumps.
Despite his advancing years, Fletch is seen as a T20 specialist these days. He has a lot of experience in the format and regularly plays on the T20 franchise circuit.
If the idea was to find someone to sub for Pooran behind the stumps, and Hope wasn’t available, who else would be a viable candidate?
Not Josh DaSilva
Not Tevin Imlach
Jangoo? Who hardly plays t20 cricket but does have form?
Johnson Charles who has previously performed the role?
Who else we have?
I don’t know if that was the thinking behind the decision, but from that perspective, I get why Fletch was selected.
I believe they are making Fletcher eat a food. I just can't think of any other reason for his inclusion.
